Yeah, it helps if you pinch your nose while you say it: "budduhSCATCH". Terrifying!

I find the phrase "zhay ya" works well.

I think it's normal for people to want change in their lives, and a change in geography is often the most obvious way to achieve change. You're tried of Wisconsin, tired of being anywhere near a corn field. On the other hand, there's an excellent university or college or whatever the hell you people call it just

Jesus Cricketbat Christ, internet, this is exactly the same thing that Cookie Monster Waits did years ago—and it was done far better! "God's Away On Business" was a triumph.

"Lever the outrage machine!"
"But sir…the premise…it won't hold!"
"Goddammit I said lever it! Get the tolerance winch!"

Brevity is…wit.

Well, why would we want to look at your eyes if you have boobs? Those things are as fascinating and hypnotic as headlights! *billy boy gets run over by oncoming car*

Name drops keep falling on my head…

I am a…brilliant man with lots of well thought-out, insightful jokes. I am ensuring the cultural legacy of the a.v. club for years to come. Oh yes, and my personal hygiene is above reproach.

Every word and nearly every sound that comes out of you is sweet to me, Eat Up Martha, but truly I don't know what it is you are saying.

Hey, she called us nerds! Let's get her! *small mob of quietly groaning nerds emerge from the bushes with fists upraised, pausing to use inhalers; some provide notes from a doctor excusing them from attending angry mobs*

There are still good lines in more recent Simpsons, they're just buried in lowbrow zaniness and obvious jokes. A couple that made me laugh pretty hard:

It's definitely in my top three. The brainstorming scene is a particular favorite, with Bernard's apparently random but emphatic objections. Also the line, "You know you're going to have a good night when there's a polar bear bleeding on the label."

Next Christmas, I'm sending the a.v. club staff dvds of "Black Books", because they've clearly never seen it. It's difficult to pick a favorite, but I'd probably go with "Manny Come Home", which guest stars Simon Pegg.

The others were mercilessly slain by the almighty Adele Dazeem.

It's pretty difficult to say who came up with which jokes, unless maybe they mention it in a dvd commentary. Someone told Jon Vitti about their favorite jokes in an episode he's credited with, and Vitti said they were all George Meyer's. Even Swartzwelder scripts got re-written, though not as extensively.
