I couldn't get into AHS, but Fargo is so so good. You can probably start with season 3, but definitely seek out the first two. They go together sorta, but the order you watch shouldn't matter.

Why not get someone who likes things to review this show? If you can't find that, at least find someone who doesn't enjoy talking about things they don't like as much as this reviewer does.
