It’s only a matter of time until Jalopnik is sold off to Paste Media like AVClub and Gizmodo and its comments section joins the free-for-all cesspool.
Seriously. The comments on The Drive are off the chain. There was an argument that deleted emissions on diesel trucks is better for the environment. Crazy.
I remember looking into these as a potential fun daily, I think a review called it an Evo for grown-ups. Survey said they were a reliability nightmare - timing chain problems, rear motor mounts, rear diffs blowing up, excessive clutch wear. And this was worse on the ‘06s.
Not mention, the GT3 RS is so fast around The Ring with Only 518hp...That is so much more impressive to me.
I had the chance to drive one of these. I was surprised at how slow it was.
I wouldn’t call these difficult to own. Much better than something Italian or British. The engine is rock solid reliable. Electrical gremlins and rust are the main bugbears, but the car will keep running and driving even if some of the power accessories don’t work.
$4,200 on making it look exactly the same.
Its actually worse. The Grand Wagoneer is not a trim level, according to Jeep, its a different model, which they make as the long version and short version.
Interesting - I don’t think I’ve ever seen one on the west coast that wasn’t a rental car.

I was thinking the same thing. Here in MI they seem to be selling, and when I was recently down in Chicago I was surprised how many I saw, given the MSRP. And the fact it looks like they didn’t quite finish designing it.
Cadillac has gone to insane efforts to show they havent shared a single interior component in this with any other car.
The Celestiq would work for me in a sedan config, that hatchback rear end is just weird. The Sollei is fantastic.
I figure $3,500 would be the correct dollar amount. That is, for the seller to pay me to take the car.
they are making fantastic vehicles with the worst marketing I’ve ever seen, Sure they get magazine recs but they have no presence. Pisses me off as I am a stockholder.
Pretty sure on manuals its ok.
did you comment just so you could say you own a Tesla
Hoonigan, prior to the merger, was a promotional agency masquerading as a t-shirt/youtube brand. They made millions on deals with big companies like General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, FCP Euro, Kubota, Black Rifle Coffee, etc.
Post-merger they wrapped the Hoonigan name around the company formerly known as Wheel Pros, so…
