I had 2005 Pontiac Vibe GT, the rebadge of the Matrix XRS. Aside from sheet metal, it was all Toyota...down to the part numbers and the Yamaha cylinder head.

If I like wood pulp sure but I’ll stick to real cheese and grate it myself.

Yeah, this is just innumeracy. cars.com has a list of other options:

The thing about average costs is it turns out quite a few of the included items will cost significantly less than that. Just because lots of people are buying a giant top of the line Canyonero doesn’t mean you also need to.

IMO the willingness to bike to work hinges on 2 things, distance and weather.  I live in the south even IF I lived close enough to bike to work, which I mean technically at 4.5 miles I could if I was in better shape, about 8 months out of the year its a hard pass because it’s to damn hot and humid.  I would rather not

Same, hadn’t considered how much easier it is to shove around the battery mower. And much quieter - I can listen to podcasts while I mow.

The Century sedan sells, I’m sure the SUV will as well. I have not seen any mention of Toyota offering it outside Japan.

+1

Orkin and other business customers purchased Ranger single cab by the thousands. They only stopped when Ford stopped building the Ranger in 2011 due to no market for a midsize or compact truck. Ford only sold 80,000 plus Ranger in it’s last year of production. Manufacturer can’t be expected to make bank on only 80,000

Forget their CEO and his terrible behavior. Even with all the whiz-bang features and hilariously fun drivetrain, IMHO their cars don’t quite live up to the hype. I recently had some extended seat time in a base 2023 Model 3 and would have a hard time spending $40k on one. For starters, the terrible brake feel and highw

Did you ever drive an M550i 5-series or an M50i X5. Or an M760i 7-series for that matter? M Performance cars have always been quite, comfortable and fast, and nothing like their “full fat” M brethren. There has also never been a true M7, so the approach with the M70 is entirely consistent with past large BMWs.

Worth pointing out that while the numbers were “less than Bloomberg expected”, they were still 100k or 27% above their all-time record for Q3.

I wanted to say I thought the seller was either a lunatic or accidentally added a zero to the asking price. But then I looked at what these sell for.  Apparently there are people paying that kind of money for these.  So I guess everyone’s a lunatic, not just the seller.

Similar situation: I commute by bike 90% of the time. 10% of my trips necessitate a car. My commute is just 2 miles; it is faster by bike. I ride back streets which take longer but are quiet. On my bike this time lets me wake up or wind down for the day. In my car, it just tires me out, even just a couple miles is no

This is just an exercise in how weird of a spot Alfa Roemeo is in right now. People don’t buy crossovers because they are stylish or any of the other things listed in the “what’s good”. They buy them because they are cheap and do all the things they ask them to.

You could give me the best infrastructure possible, but I live in Miami so unless it is air conditioned bike lanes, I am not biking to work to just be sweaty all day.

Same. Throw in the fact that my oldest moved from preschool (<1 mi away) to kindergarten (7 miles away through a fuckload of bike-unfriendly streets, plus he has a bus to ride anyways), so even less incentive to get the bike out. Still use it sometimes to get the youngest from preschool, but we also have things like

Exercise is a huge part. Walking isn’t really an alternative unless distances are very short. Cycling is typically at least 4x faster over a similar distance. So a 15 minute bike ride is hour walk. A lot of people are fine with a 30 minute bike ride but aren’t about to walk 2 hours each way.

I would be willing to bet the venn diagram of people who were able and willing to commute to work by bike and people who’s jobs have switched to work from home is pretty close to a circle.

Just be happy he didn’t suggest a Nissan Skyline GTR.
