The only one I see regularly that actually makes sense is Lexus, and their entire point from day 1 was to make their dealership experience actually not suck and to avoid everything people generally dislike about dealers.

This wins. Not only were those diesels awful in their own right, but they were so crappy that they completely ruined the diesel market in the US pretty much indefinitely.
ND. A tiny range EV does have a price point that eventually makes it make sense, but not $4k. Hoovie’s Fiat 500 EV he bought for $700 with about 30 miles of range max is a good example of one so cheap you could make an argument for it.
That’s on our list as well. It is seeming like the right move will be to get whichever one depreciates the fastest in 1-2 years and scoop it up off-lease. None of them are holding their value well enough to justify buying new.
This is such a letdown. I was planning on putting a deposit on one of these once they were released - my wife is up for a new car, she specifically wants an EV, she likes minivans, loves the styling of this, and she owns an arts + crafts store which would look great with this parked out front with a two-tone scheme in…
It’s worth watching and holds up well. If you do find the time to watch it (totally understood on the kids thing), watch the director’s cut instead of the theatrical one. The main release had a bunch of goofy voiceover lines and a few scenes removed that really change the tone of the movie and take away from it.
I like these cars, and they have really come into their own in the past few years as people have realized that a 2ZZ, K24, or 2AR swap will really wake them up. This one doesn’t look bad but ND regardless - there are many other recent sales of similarly nice cars for a lot less.
That was the most unintentionally funny tweet he has ever done. The fact he thinks the guy’s name is Blade Runner is such an obvious indication that he has never even seen the movie
Also highly possible that people made a reservation planning to buy one and flip it, then backed out when they realized that wasn’t going to work out in their favor
If you told me there were only 30k people in the US who actually wanted one of these enough to buy one, I would believe you. The downside of such a controversial design and high price point is that the market base is pretty limited, especially with how unlikeable Elon is these days.
The C8 is/was available in Europe, albeit in a very limited capacity compared to the US. I think the Mustang is sold there too
This is sick as hell. I know people have complained about the higher-spec Corvettes costing a ton of money, but you can’t argue with how crazy this is and it’s cool seeing the kind of potential a giant OEM has with a platform like this.
Musk would probably fund the whole production of the move just to make this happen
This, I will go to the dealer today and put an order in for one if they make a plug-in version. I love my GX now and think the new one is rad, but am not buying another newer car without some kind of electrification that will still allow me to tow long distances with it.
NP, this seems like a lot of car to the money and is a good alternative to a very used base model A6 or something else you might get instead.
Their interior quality (or lack thereof) was truly an insult to their customers. It was like an internal joke of “how terribly can we build these things and still get our moron customers to buy them?” The Jeep SRT8 interior from this era is a standout as the worst of the worst, especially since that car wasn’t that…
This is the final boss of low credit score cars, for when you simply can’t find an Altima crappy enough for your price range.
The interior and cluster updates make sense - MB had some pretty lackluster designs for a while and I understand why you’d want to update (see also: early G500s getting clusters from later cars). I’d be concerned about the durability of that manual gearbox, considering this probably has double the torque of the engine…
I always thought they looked pretty decent. They made another X5-based model before (maybe they still do?) that was sort of like a beefier-looking VF8 and was actually pretty sharp
First gear: I respect that Toyota was hesitant to jump headfirst into EVs (and the market shows they were smart to do that), but I wish they would double-down on that and release a bunch more plug-in hybrids instead.
