Nah. Sometimes you overhype things so much in your head that when you actually get them, they stand no chance of living up to your expectations. It isn’t *bad* per se, just not what you were expecting/wanting.
Not even remotely the same thing. I’d venture a guess in almost any performance situation they’d be neck and neck performance wise, but the way they got there would be worlds different.
The other guy is correct believe it or not. The same way keyless start is cheaper than cutting a key and installing a cylinder. You don’t need to cut and track 50 different key patterns, and the vehicle already has RF identifying capabilities, you just use a couple more antenna and a key fob with a different chip set.
Still a $40,000 purchase. I think he’s talking more in the $30,000 range, pre-incentive.
I don’t know what those usually go for, but I’d call that a good price (given the used car market at the moment). I’d imagine in normal times it would be ~17-18k, and at that cost, I’d be really tempted.
Car seats especially rear facing take up far more room than even the tallest adult.
FWIW, you could make something Mustang sized work for quite a while after that. If they’re taller but light, it might get tight while in booster seats, but once they’re out, they’re still going to be small enough to fit in the back seat of a medium sized 2+2.
I’d imagine some combination of:
EDIT: By highway, I’m primarily meaning interstate use where the speeds are 65+. I believe (around here anyway) even state highways are acceptable since the speeds are generally 55-65.
Might just be a California thing. I’ve seen more than a few HMMWVs with plates. I’ve seen obviously off-road vehicles (modified ATVs in other words) with plates.
I can toss blinkers and DOT tires on one and get a plate over here. Can’t do interstate travel, but I wouldn’t really want to anyway.
Don’t they impound the car if you’re driving with a suspended license? Why didn’t that happen? And if it did, who gave him a car?
It’s a lot harder to get around without driving, but not impossible.
Except not only is that kind of statement not written in law anywhere, but it is patently false. There are a multitude of ways to get rear ended and still be responsible.
I think this would not jive well with the whole “innocent until proven guilty” thing we have here. Still, the end result (better protections for cyclists) should ABSOLUTELY be in place.
Boats have a higher chance of surviving,
For me, I’d say the daily plan is to just use energy from the grid over night in hopes what I generate during the day covers what I use at night. We don’t have time based billing, so 100 kwh at noon is 100 kwh at 6 PM. It’s just a matter of finding where net zero is and purchasing enough panels to cover that need.
If you’re seriously in an emergency situation, in my experience with hurricanes, you really aren’t going anywhere. If you do, you might go a few minutes up the road, but again, you have a battery large enough to support a more or less fully functional household for about two days without any sort of solar. It can…
Volkswagen didn’t give figures on how long the ID.5 can power a full house, but assume it’s a short duration — don’t rely on it for your next big storm.
