Agreed. She knows that the country is now in the hands of someone who does not give a single fuck about its people, particularly its vulnerable people. At all. And I think she, like her husband (*sob*), actively cares about this country and its people, particularly its vulnerable people.

Putting aside her intelligence and humor and level of care for Americans for a moment, I remain floored by how gracefully MObama has handled the sheer racism and sexism that has been leveled at her. Watching her this morning moved me more than I anticipated it would. It felt like, not only the end of her tenure as FLOTUS, but the end of civility, intellectualism, and empathy in Washington for a long time to come. And when she choked up near the end, I think it’s because she knows it, too.

This country did not deserve her as a First Lady. It is so infuriating that so many people who will applaud and cheer for a woman who has achieved nothing in her life but was born beautiful could not bring themselves to respect someone who has accomplished so much. Fuck everything.
