2nd gear: There seems to be this mis-understanding of how “profit” works in a business.

2nd Gear- And this is another toxic side-effect of too much VC money flowing to the Tesla Story. They can, apparently, continue to lose the $8000 per car they manage to deplete actually building vehicles— simply because they can always go to their venture funds (now cleverly foisted off onto the public markets) for…
“This will cut into automakers’ profit margins, which is not a thing you should really care about unless you are a shareholder of an automaker.” I know this might not make sense to a motor journalist that only drives a honda fit, but this should scare the masses as the companies selling these cars will only just raise…
How do you know it’s DeMuro if his arms aren’t open with his palms up?
I’d bet it’s just for the car they’re using for the unveiling.
Neat. I don’t want that feature.
My brain. His writing hurts my brain.
I’m sorry, corruption in the UAW? Next you’ll tell me there’s a pandemic.
Ford will sell tons of F150 trucks even if a drunk three-toed inbred blind buck toothed monkey from the local zoo was responsible for the launch. It’s a pickup truck, they sell no matter what.
Yup you nailed it. The biggest deciding factor will either be price, appearance, or people who buy too heavily into the brochure and just want imaginary bragging rights.
How did they miss the fact that the Bronco Sport is made in MEXICO, while the Jeep pays great union labor at Ohio, UNITED STATES to build every Wrangler?
No Jeep buyer would ever admit that they don’t intend to do Moab.

The other 95% of buyers just want the feel of an open-top off-roader while driving to the beach, bike trail, office job, etc. I believe the biggest advantage to get…
Yeah, were I a buyer, your brand’s “heritage” means sweet fuck all to me, at best. At worst, I’m going to look at Mopar’s “heritage” of horrible build quality.
When Jeep’s first “Advantage” is heritage, my response is,
Cool, but what advantages does this Wrangler have over, say, a train? Which I could also afford.
Looks like it’s 2015 Cayenne Diesel time for you !
Oddly, it doesn’t bother me in the Frontier, but does bother me in the Tundra. I think its due to price. If you’re going to be basic and durable, you should also be affordable. The Tundra, using 10+ year old tech, still costs an arm and a leg.
I’m not sure about most high tech truck, but I sure as hell know the most low tech midsizer and full sizer.
2021 rule changes are going to be telling. Also, if you think there is no point, then any of the low grade teams have no point. Do you just want Mercedes, Ferrari, and Redbull on the grid?
