Yeah, that’s why I said not particularly. I remember looking it up and finding that unless they eat an entire trap (and I dutifully put them out of her reach), it’s going to be ok. I would assume borax is also not good for humans to eat. Read more

Oh my god that’s adorable. My cat likes to play a similar game on stairs, dropping something just off a step and then wildly and blindly flailing her arm over the edge to try to get it.

Hell yes. I don’t remember when it switched - I was Gen y for a good while and then suddenly people were telling me I was a millennial, and the same generation as people born in the mid 90s? Nope. Read more

Oh they're for sure using it as an excuse. I've given up on the call back system lately because I find if I don't stay on hold, I never get called back.

We have a cat (just one at the moment, though we’d love to get another if the landlord hadn’t restricted us to one). She’s not a great mouser... She finds them sometimes, but then she just plays with them and never closes the deal. In the last house, several times she brought a live one into our room in the middle of Read more

Good tip! I will try it. We got a bunch of the liquid ant traps (I think it’s basically a Borax solution, so not particularly toxic to people and pets) which have worked well for us in the past. Seems to be taking them down a bit. Read more

Nope, no gas. I’ve always had gas heat but this place is oil. Had to figure out how that all works. Read more

Assholes. Did you get anywhere with them? As far as having someone out to switch you, it’s worth looking into and asking how much access they’d need. We just had fios installed in our apartment and they only had to be outside and in the basement - we opened the outer door to the basement for them, so they didn’t have Read more

That's so hard, I'm sorry. Can your mom or aunts video call you from your grandfather's bedside? Might be helpful for you and them.

But ps, that breakfast club meme gave me a good laugh. I’m not Gen x, but older end Gen y (refuse to call myself millennial) so close enough.

We’ve spent two nights at our new apartment. We’ve killed 5 mice so far, and are working on the hundreds of ants. When we turned on the heat, several of the radiators started leaking. The landlord was very nonchalant about it when we told him. Read more

We were actually talking about buying some gift cards to some of the small local restaurants we like. I think we might do that soon.

God yes. I have a manual grinder too and it's such a pain that I've mostly switched to tea haha.

I miss takeout so bad. I know takeout restaurants are still open, but bearddamnheroes thinks they're too much of a risk, and he might be right. Still, I'm really looking forward to the day that I can order pizza or better yet, Thai food.

I learned something new today! I totally thought club soda and seltzer were different names for the same thing, though flavored selzers exist but I’ve never seen flavored club soda. Read more
