A Scanner Darkly is by a long, long yard the best actual adaptation of PKD’s books to the screen. (Blade Runner is obviously a classic, but as the article acknowledges, it’s barely any sort of adaptation at all.) Weirdly, after spending a lot of time in my teens in the 90s reading Dick, I only got to this a couple of years ago. It was definitely stranger than I expected, and I can’t say it was one of my favourites of his. The novel I think I’ve enjoyed most is A Scanner Darkly, which also has a great film adaptation.
