That’s patently false.
That’s patently false.
But that’s the thing. There’s a difference between having Lyme disease (which it sounds like you did) and “Chronic Lyme Disease” which is now a “thing” that people have - like Avril Lavigne, this lady, etc. These are people who are tested by their doctors for Lyme Disease and they DON’T have Lyme Disease. And then…
I get the overall point of western oppression by way of sexualizing women and calling it empowerment, but it’s just not the same thing as oppression via religious modesty. No woman is forced to wear miniskirts, and nobody faces potentially punitive measures or public disapproval or shame if they refuse to wear a…
Combining the worst elements of religious orthodoxy with consumer capitalism? Oh yay!
Trust the women at Jezebel to be enthusiastic about what they’ll be forced to wear next for the sake of keeping the peace in the multi cultural society they adore and worship more than their own women’s rights.
Like that’s ever going to happen. Right. Muslims can keep their oppression clothes, thank you
Jesus christ. Do you listen to yourself?
Let’s not celebrate the oppression of women, their sexuality, and their freedom via “modesty” laws - in Islam, in orthodox Judaism, in Mormonism, in crazy Christian sects. Anywhere. Deserve to be acknowledged...as long as they follow sexist religious dress codes.
As a Muslim woman who has never worn hijab and never will I don’t really understand this. Isn’t covering up supposed to prove your modesty and keep you from attracting attention? How does a crystal embellished tent do that? Just one of the many ways in which religious people pretend to follow tradition while doing…
If this is trolling, good one. If sincere, I'm scared.
I purchased a djellaba as a student while visiting Morocco. Gotta tell ya, those things are amazingly comfortable. They entirely hide the body, eliminating the western “body performance.”
I can’t wait for these to get to my hometown in Saudi Arabia! Finally, something to wear when I hit up the night clu—hmm—ah, something fashionable I can put on when I start classes at colleg—well—okay, something I can wear while I drive to—errr—fine, something nice to wear while I just walk around in publi—oh.
Also good for Jedi drag queens!
I’m pretty sure a lot of Muslim women find this kind of bourgeois capitulation a little disturbing.
Yaaaay, just in time for the coming Global Caliphate!
Thankfully, human population groups don’t retain behavioral, cultural or cognitive traits through multiple generations.
