Surprised that, despite running multiple Snoop Dogg stories in the last day, none of them have to do with recent legal troubles of his.

*shrug* Normal day for an Apple Music person.

I think it would be a draw. Worst case scenario, Ye actually does try to take Pete. When he does, he starts hitting Pete, but Pete’s mostly just confused by it, and goes, “Hey, cut it out, man. Jesus.” After a minute, Ye would get tired, and Pete would react with a, “What the fuck was that?” I can’t imagine it would

Based.

That’s literally where the movie starts, though. Just because you illustrate real things that exist in the world doesn’t mean you’re making a point. Observation without insight is meaningless. There is very little insight to Don’t Look Up beyond “We’re all being short-sighted and it’s gonna kill us.” If that’s the

I honestly hadn’t read the tweet—nor had I weighed on this, because who cares—but if the criticism has been that Adam McKay thinks not liking Don’t Look Up means you don’t believe in climate change, then it seems like people are just misconstruing his words on purpose. The tweet is just saying that you might not get

I used to revisit the alternate ending where they cut out the last few terrible minutes, but it’s so weird that a show that good was so misunderstood by its creators.

The greats? Off the top of my head, Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata, Hideaki Anno, Satoshi Kon, Makoto Shinkai, Katsuhiro Otomo, Rintaro, Shinichiro Watanabe, Mamoru Oshii, and Mamoru Hosoda. I’m not an anime person, but it’s clearly a huge industry with a ton of amazing and consistent storytellers.

Bummer that Nicolas Cage couldn’t break in for Pig. Critics have gotten it right recognizing him, but I also get it if the movie isn’t the Academy’s thing.

There are so many anime auteurs that are as fascinating as any film bro favorite, if not more so.

Is there anything more Tim Kaine-y than Tim Kaine getting stuck in a traffic jam from VA to DC?

I mean, he could be a super shitty actor and I’d be happy to refer to him as anything.

I feel like this is really downplaying what a big deal Joe Johnston actually is. He’s an Academy-Award-winning VFX artist who has had a solid directorial career. We’re talking Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, Jumanji, Jurassic Park III (which is the best of the Jurassic Park sequels), October Sky, the very underrated Not

I don’t know. I saw this at Sundance and had a great time with it. Yeah, it has the same structure as many sports movies, but it works. It’s an affecting story about coming to the end of your own legacy whether or not you’re ready. Plus, it’s incredibly well-acted. Although, I will say, I was not as enamored with the

Yup. I have the brave stances no one else is willing to take.

Personally, I think Ted Lasso is only a minor step down. Some ideas work better than others, but for the most part, I was happy to have the show back, and glad to see it challenge itself as much as it did.

Renner and Steinfeld are fun, but you know who’s really fun to watch as a Hawkeye/Black Widow pairing? Steinfeld and Pugh. Much more entertaining and a higher ceiling than Renner and Johannson.

Rude to Ted Lasso. The other shows are cool, though.

Can’t really argue with most of these, although the number one is surprising. I very much enjoyed The French Dispatch, but it’s outside my top 25 of the year, and is at best in the middle of my personal Wes Anderson rankings. Maybe it’s just because we’ve been so spoiled for movies. 2021 has been an amazing film year.

Modern visual effects have cursed filmmaking.
