If Nightmare is the winner, that’s all well and good, but it’s a bit weird that Halloween was up comfortably all day, and then right before the deadline, Nightmare leapfrogs it. I guess things happen, but if someone did throw a wrench, that would be an incredibly lame, weenie move.

I might have agreed, but I was compelled to rewatch Rick Rosenthal’s Halloween II this evening, and I came way up on that entry, which tips it for me.

I’m sure someone else mentioned this, but the best Parks and Recreation Halloween episode is “Greg Pikitis.” A perfect, hilarious, endearing mystery where everybody wins. I love it.

I would have liked that a lot, and it would have improved the film. And I actually enjoy Jackie Earle Haley’s take on Freddy. That said, there are foundational problems with the remake that are also hampering its effectiveness and functionality as a movie.

Of what remains:

It’s hard to take issue with this insofar as Halloween and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre are both two of maybe my 25 or 30 favorite films. But if Halloween isn’t people’s bag, I don’t know what to tell them. I’ve watched it three times in the last year on top of the countless times I’ve watched it since I was a kid. It

The first two Slumber Party Massacre films are genuinely great, with II being one of the best slashers in the genre. That’s a series that 100% should have overtaken The Hills Have Eyes, which has one pretty good movie and then a lot of diminishing returns.

This is the exact argument I’ve been making since the special dropped. It’s one thing that Chappelle tells a story about a trans friend of his. It’s another that they can’t defend their story and that Chappelle is using it to justify his own ignorance.

That’s what has bothered me about this whole saga. Chappelle thinks and says whatever, and he’s the wrong person to be talking about queerness and trans topics. That’s one thing. What’s scary is that there is a not-insignificant audience who is totally like, “Dave Chappelle, speaking the truth. That’s my guy.” So many

My five for her are probably...

People voting for The Hills Have Eyes are showing their asses big time. Slumber Party Massacre II is an all-timer slasher, and the first film ain’t half-bad neither.

It’s also very unlikely to be Baldwin’s fault. Speaking as someone who’s worked on sets, I would bet that whoever was supposed to prep that prop did not do so as they should have. And even then, things just happen. Sets can be very dangerous even when you’re not dealing with prop weapons.

Hell’s yeah.

It’s miraculous how well their stuff has translated to SNL

I imagine being a woman who gets started early in the industry and grows up in it is probably extremely stressful and maybe shapes people in some less-than-ideal ways.

It’s a great performance, really. But it feels less like Robin Williams and more like a Robin Williams performance, which is not the same thing.

I liked Amodio okay. Kind of bummed to see him go out like this, but hey. He had a great run.

Look, if season one is Funeral, season two is definitely Neon Bible: A somewhat divisive and tempestuous sophomore outing. Which means that season three is The Suburbs!! And if you’re me, that’s as good as it gets.

We stan Marky Bark in this house.

Love Nick Mohammed. His performance in season two is outstanding. And I find his arc to both work and to be very powerful. I’m excited to see where it goes next year.
