Seriously, if you found that confusing, how did you even get to this point in the show? 

True in 2015 (when the team was hot garbage, it’s worth noting)! Since then, not so much

Feels to me like the White Sox leaking a low-ball offer so they can tell their fans, “look, we tried!” after the Phillies then come in with their 8-year, $205 million offer and ultimately sign him.

One of the original ideas for the movie, back when John Sayles (!) was involved in the script, was a breeding program to turn raptors into hyper-intelligent super-soldiers, including carrying guns. It was assumed that this would be a bad thing for humanity, but maybe they've taken it another direction?
