Weird to see this kind of cynicism on a site where the entire left third of the page is ads.

That’s a flawed logical process. Abstinence or vote, you are having a say in the election because you live in a democracy and one of these candidates that you hate will become your president in a few months. You don’t get to say, “I don’t want the car crash or the plane accident, so I won’t go anywhere.” The country

I’ll agree with you there, for sure. But fresh adoption is always expensive. Just imagine, that 30 years ago there were mechanics cursing newfangled “fuel injection.” Now we take it almost for granted that you won’t have to mess with your fuel system for a good 200k miles.

If you watch the video to see the mechanism, you’ll see that the length of the stroke doesn’t change. What changes is where the stroke is centered; the midpoint of the stroke rises so that the piston gets closer to the head to up the CR.

Varying valve timing changes the amount (mass) of air/fuel in the cylinder. Changing the compression ratio changes the thermodynamic efficiency of the burn. When you have a 14:1 CR, the air/fuel goes from a high pressure to a relatively lower pressure than an 8:1 CR, for the same amount of gas in the chamber. That

I’ve found that stuffed Costco Bears are excellent bass traps.

Agreed.

Not aesthetic. Wider track width means less weight transfer due to roll moment.

I’d agree, but there’s probably some more trickery there to make sure he still achieves the requisite voltage and current requirements of the motors.

Just don’t cover it in stupid bumper stickers and you’re fine. There’s no shame in being frugal.

I wouldn’t disagree with any of that. I’m just saying they’re apples to oranges. If you’re looking for a new car to ferry around a family, Prius is a solid option.

So all much smaller, much older, less safe?

Can you be specific? I can’t think of any conventional hatches that get better than 50 mpg, CRXs don’t even do that.

Which hatchback gets better gas mileage than a prius?

I just want to point out that .21 is almost 5% lower than .22. That’s really not splitting hairs. .01 sounds like nothing, but when the Cd is that low it becomes pretty significant.

Dude, that camber mid-turn.

Nope.
First, adding oversteer to a neutral chassis would require larger REAR sway bars.

Now playing

Of the many things at play, I’m gonna focus on a couple: body roll/pitch and steering geometry.

You’re right about turning, somewhat. But putting this much camber up front ruins braking performance. This is a drift set up, where extreme camber is needed to make up for the camber lost on opposite-lock.

What they do intend is that if somebody is speeding, it’s safer for them to pass in an open left lane than to have to brake on the freeway. And the last thing you want to encourage is that speeder trying to weave around you.
