Taking someone’s property and destroying it is wrong, though. The person recording has an absolute right to do so. If that’s a problem, then it’s the cops’ procedures that need to change, not the rest of us.

I want to know what was the motivation to film the arrest? Was there any cop misbehavior up to the point of breaking her camera? Was she hoping for some bad behavior to send to her local news outlet or You tube? Or did she just a busy body that didn’t approve of police activity that wasn’t any of her business?

A good rule of thumb: If the cop has to run from where they are over to where you are in order to knock your camera out of your hand, then you are not in the cop’s way.

As cops like to say, “If you aren’t doing anything wrong, you have nothing to fear.”
