But I think the point is more that this game/series has NO gay relationships and this one feels like it could/should be. 

It’s only reasonable if you ignore the fact that romance in Persona 5 is optional. The kind of relationship that the commenter describes would still be present in the game if the player were to choose to take the relationship in a platonic route.
