Yep, and like I said, I agree the limited nature is weird.

Huh. The game certainly doesn’t go into a lot of details about it, but
The game had some major issues, but is this an exaggeration? Of all the things wrong with the game (major events happening off-screen; rushed second half; underdeveloped supporting cast; etc.), XV is pretty explicit about the biggest story beats.
Eh, I’d wait to fully judge until we get a bit more information on the gameplay itself. It’s possible for gameplay systems to look similar but play differently, after all--even just a difference in button inputs (compared to the ability to hold the button in XV) could make a difference. This one looks a bit less…
I agree that the limited release is ridiculous. Mario is crazy popular. I could see it being somewhat limited given that it’s intended for an anniversary thing, but having it less than a year is a bad move, imo; it’s not something like the Shin Megami Tensei spinoffs where they’re rather niche.
Eh, I wouldn’t say that started with Kingdom Hearts or Advent Children. After all, FFVI has the main cast all shout their motivations at Kefka right before the final battle; Yuna does it toward the end of FFX; I’m pretty sure we get it during parts of FFIV and FFIX, too. It’s kind of a JRPG thing rather than solely…
Man, I couldn’t do River City Girls. I downloaded it on Switch in excitement to play it with my boyfriend after reading so many good reviews of it, but it played super slowly, the hitboxes required me to be almost precisely next to the enemies on both the X and Y axis to the point of frustration, and the combos…
I clicked on this article because I’m literally in the middle of unpacking and it’s *awful.* There’s satisfaction in finishing a box but oof.
I mean, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with wanting fast food joints to offer healthier options; it can be less expensive (plus easier when you’re someone who works a ton or is otherwise incredibly busy during the day) to get fast food instead of going to buy groceries. That isn’t always the case, of course, but…
You know it can be both, right? Nintendo can make fun games and have cool ideas and ALSO use scummy sales tactics. Hell, they’re not the only company in gaming to do so.
It’s not unusual for them—the Zelda Collector’s Edition with Ocarina and Wind Waker was limited, as was the release of Mario All-Stars on Wii. Doesn’t make it less crappy, but I guess at least there’s precedent...?
Hopefully yeah, since it costs money. When they did Four Swords and then took it off, I couldn’t redownload it when I had to get my 3DS repaired; I only lucked into them rereleasing it for a month or two later on. That was free, though, so like I said, hopefully they won’t just erase it from the servers.
Seconding Shaun and the channel you posted as well.
Weird! I wonder if they changed something with it. I know there were quite a few posts online about being unable to redownload it. I can’t check myself since my Xbox is in storage, lol.
Ellen has done some amazing things for queerness. Not just the Puppy Episode, which we still study in media classes today, but maintaining a daytime talk show when those are essentially targeted at middle America? Having 18 years of an openly lesbian woman talking about her wife isn’t something to sneeze at. It’s…
Absolutely this. Hell, this is probably a better post than what I was wanting to respond with. We gain nothing by acting like this is solely one or the other. Ellen has done amazing things—as recently as 2013, we were still studying the Puppy Episode in my Television and Queerness college course. Her talk show being…
I mean, “game that doesn’t require an update” depends on if you mean “literally does not have any updates for it” or “needs a patch to perform well or finish the main story.” If we use the latter, just off the top of my head:
My understanding (I don’t have the consoles handy to check) is that you cannot redownload Scott Pilgrim on Xbox 360 or Legend of Korra on PS3 even if you purchased either one. That’s actually been a worry for me since I’ve been wanting to replay Korra after rewatching the show.
I’m mixed on it! I don’t usually resell or donate my games, and I like having physical things to put on shelves and show what I’ve played/seen/read/etc. Plus, if I want to replay something or lend it to a friend, I just have to take it off the shelf. If something happens to that copy of the game (or, god forbid, my…
In fairness, Nintendo could easily still be deciding on things themselves. If they have sources at Nintendo—which isn’t unusual, and they can’t name them for obvious reasons—it’s entirely plausible that only limited details are confirmed and they are only reporting on those.
