There are so many tiers to chess. I’m a poor recreational player, who’s played in spurts at various times, with roommates and coworkers. I was variously untouchable by some beginner-level players, just because I understood the various basic principles like time and the value of the pieces and controlling the middle,

Caruana’s coming chronometrical catastrophe created a calamitous climate.

I grew up in Edina and hated every second of it....have all my stars for that comment.

Haven’t most of the cake-eaters moved to Eden Prairie?

Came here for a cake eater reference

Might be the first time Edina couldn’t have their cake and eat it too.

I used to live in middle NE and had the same heating situation. Splitting wood was pretty fun back in the day, although using that stupid leather sling to bring the wood from the pile back into the house was a pain in the dick.

Oh yeah, I forgot the point of my story:

Oh, I’m sure. I grew up in North Dakota, so I hated shoveling snow as a kid. I went back to visit for Christmas a couple of years ago, and helped my parents dig out of a big blizzard. That was incredibly satisfying, too. But, I know very well that if I were to move back there and have to wake up an hour or two early

Chopping firewood is awesome...until you have to do it for 2 1/2 hours every day after school for about 3 months. I think I still have the calluses on my hands. And my god....the chainsaw my father had used to scare the hell out of me. The thing (a Husqvarna) was a motorcycle with a blade.

I can appreciate a journalist who’s dedicated to their beat, but the election has been pretty thoroughly covered.

Blues Fan here. Shattenkirk is top 5 overrated players in the NHL.

This is way too long. I’m sorry. Don’t read it. But I’m going to finish typing it. Because hockey lover having a drink too late at night has thoughts.

Damn of course your only good comment of this year is buried

Crosby is a genius. He’s forgotten more about hockey than I’ll ever know.

I used to walk to work every day at Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan. Stopped at the Green Bean for a Chair Latte. I will take my house in the ‘burbs

Back in my day, when I needed a sip of water, I had to get permission from a nun to walk down the hall to the water fountain and be back in less than a minute. And we were never allowed to drink too much water because then we’d have to go to the bathroom. And guess what, she was right because hooo boy did I ever

Goalie here. After each game, my gear goes in a closet. I have a little metal rack that stands in the middle. On the rack, i have my skates, then my gloves. On hooks on the side walls i have my breezers and chest/arms. Helmet on top shelf. On the floot, I have a fan. On the top shelf, I have one of those ozone
