There’s no guarantee that if Zaire “never plays football again” that he can earn that $160k degree. Notre Dame isn’t required to pay his medical bills, much less keep him on scholarship.

Which are these other career paths that don’t require any particular level of education in a certain field but which will not allow you entry unless you’ve engaged in an organized (nationally broadcast?) amateur-level version of said career?
You can’t guess which those are for the first 2-3 years of their college career (much like minor league baseball is something of a crapshoot as to who will even make it to the bigs much less have a productive career), so that argument is meaningless. One reason “>80%” won’t sniff a pro check is... college injuries.…
The work-study kid can turn pro with his department receptionist skills should he choose to do so, a college football or basketball player is denied this option due to collusion between the NFL/NBA and NCAA.
Ever notice that people talking about the hypocrisy of college athletics rarely mention soccer, hockey or…
Yeah, but these pampered athletes are just like any other student with a work-study job or research assistant gig, servicing the school for their education. In no way do they deserve any kind of real payment for their involvement in a multibillion dollar endeavor.
Reading the responses here, one takeaway (with the obvious caveat that, culturally, things are worse for women in almost every way) is recognition that everybody’s dealing with shit of some kind. Feminists being told that having standards of any kind isn’t okay, athletic women dealing with people who aren’t into that…
A teenage boy recognized that his girlfriend was more important than some bullshit tribalism? Alternately, he privileged his chances of having sex over bullshit tribalism.
Either way, I’m saying the kid made the right call.
What are SportsCenter’s ratings like? I want to guess my father’s peers (people old enough to still watch 60 Minutes) are the only ones watching but even he gets all his sports news from the 24/7 clip culture and websites.
This is the most Cleveland car ever.
I know this is wrong and awful and they have to be punished and I would never watch the Snapchats, but if it were legal and sanctioned I would totally watch Toddler Fights on youtube.
You know that guy paid $90 for the artfully distressed and bleached Metallica shirt.
Who knew a puppet could make ‘fuck me’ eyes?
Beyond what everyone is saying about questionable advice... that white one is butt ugly.
You’re not wrong. Chipotle burritos have 20x too much rice and 3/4 of your bites end up just being flavorless flour tortilla and borderline flavorless rice. To be fair, the bowls and salads might be palatable but I haven’t been to a Chipotle since I reached the age where eating a salad instead of a burrito seemed like…
Finally a worthy trailer park heir to the Birdman. Countdown to his first suspension for meth?
Shit, inside of a week I never had the college library actually charge me the late fees. They’d just zero it out if I returned the book directly to a librarian.
What if I think flowers are dumb (too much money for something that will just wither and die), can I send a plant?
The problem with exceptions is that they open the door to all the guns people want to get rid of. ‘Hunting’ rifle? You mean .30-06 ‘sniper’ rifle? Bear protection? You mean .44 Magnum revolver? There’s no difference in possible harm to others between those and any assault rifle or Glock that ‘should be banned.’ (Well,…
The fuck are you talking about? 60 hours is the amount of time big program players spend ‘working’ on football - practice, recovery, travel, etc.. Thus making it difficult bordering on impossible for many of them to attain any kind of education, much less one in a meaningful program (ie not ‘sports kinesiology’).
Did you work 60 hours per week during college, while routinely studying in pain?
