Keep it plugged into your phone on those infrequent occasions. All I’m saying, people, is that this should not be such a difficult problem to solve. Also, you can buy bluetooth headphones from Amazon for under $20 and they will deliver to them to you TODAY. The dongle was always supposed to be a bridge. You have

Um, pockets? Um, set it next to the phone? Um, on the end of the headphone cord? If you can’t come up with very simple solutions to this very simple problem you probably shouldn’t be handling any kind of technology.

Well, to repeat, the consumer benefit if we’re to believe Apple developers was improved screen quality and battery life, the latter of which is hands down the most requested feature with every iteration of phone. They took a gamble that people would get over it and it would seem that they were, by and large,

Plenty!

There is already tech that is using magnetic fields to transmit data and audio instead of radio frequencies. Technology evolves. It encounters problems and it solves them. In 20 years no one will have corded headphones plugged into consumer tech. It will be like someone rocking a Walkman in 2018.

Um, the viable solution was a free dongle supplied with the phone and also bluetooth technology built into the phone. Those were the two VERY viable solutions they provided consumers with.

Keep yelling at that cloud.

I’m picturing some really weird scenarios where I guess him and his wife want to listen to pone thing together on his phone but then his kids need to use one ear bud to listen to something on the TV but another kid is listening to the turntable (also through, somehow, the same headphones?) and basically there’s just a

“This $1000 phone is a rip off because I can’t use the $5 crappy headphones that came with it on other things and I don’t own any others or have access to, like, a gas station.”

I mean that’s a pretty specific problem that I would think you could plan for if it occurs enough to be a legitimate issue for you. I don’t think the tech world’s decisions on the future of innovations should be based on Gary’s heavy conference call schedule that he can only tackle with wired-headphones.

You have no basis for this take whatsoever. You can not fathom a currently unavailable technology that could deliver superior sound quality to wired headphones in the future IN YOUR WILDEST DREAMS? You are 100% certain this is a thing technology can not achieve within the realm of physics? You sound like the people in

The point being the tech is an improvement but there will always stodgy old people yelling at clouds. Once you get used to not having wires dangling all over you it’s pretty clear it’s a better system. So other than being exactly right I’m also perfectly relevant! Thanks for the feedback!

I mean if your headphone-wearing life is THAT complicated than maybe you need to institute some kind of system. Or just, like, leave it plugged into your phone when you’re really digging the sound quality of that vinyl.

I’ve never understood this myself. How many different sets of headphones are you plugging into your phone that there’s ever even an opportunity to lose the dongle? When would you ever take the dongle off and set it aside on its own anywhere ever? I feel like these are the people who can’t keep house plants alive.

This article written in 1990:

Why should I go buy a “compact disc” player when my hi-fi cassette deck works just fine?

The charger is the size of a plum. It uses the same charging cable as my phone. It is no less onerous to keep track of than, let’s say, some headphones with a big long tangly cord attached to them. I don’t even bother to take it with me to work. It just sits on my desk at home and I drop the buds in when I get home. I

In 10 years children will think it is insane that people were once tethered to anything by a flimsy wire like a caveman. I made the switch to bluetooth a few years ago. If you go ahead and invest in a good pair they will change your life. I genuinely look back at my corded headphone days and think “Man look at that

The weird thing is that he wasn’t even president when the tweet happened. He was a private citizen running for president. So is there something in the ICE code of conduct that says you can’t make fun of ANYONE or are they just so in the tank for Trump that if you EVER made fun of him it’s somehow a retroactive

That tweet was from March 2016, when Trump was one of a dozen GOP candidates. Why would it have been a violation of anything for someone in ICE to tweet something “funny” about a presidential candidate?
