Just 10 years? Feels longer

Kenneth Branagh ala Murder on the Orient Express?

Agree. Those were good. Bright was ok but just all over the place and so cliched.

Any time Netflix buys a movie now, I get worried. Their hit rate is getting alarmingly low. When was the last time there was a much watch film on Netflix only? Would love Annihilation to be great as loved the book and love Alex Garland - but... I guess we’ll see in Feb.

Conan is kicked off his throne and sent away. He must gather an army and fight for his throne back, while tackling weekly monsters. Simple.

Think this could be a good idea - but only if Amazon market it properly. There’s so much good stuff on Amazon that no one knows about. They really need to separate it out from their Prime offering - make it a standalone service to give it the appearance of value.

This sucks. Always loved him in whatever he did. Always had the feeling that he’d deliver a later in career Oscar winning performance.

Playing someone like Han Solo is a lose lose - you try and do the voice and people say you’re just mimicking him. Don’t do it, and people say, he sounds nothing like him.

Only two.

Get those obituaries written guys. As the sole connecting actor between all the MCU films, does this mean they’ll stop producing them. Or have they filmed 30 random scenes of him starring at the sky saying something witty and will just insert them into future films.

I’ve always thought of him as more of a verbal comic who is good at the slapstick, than the other way round. Never liked Mr Bean, but loved Blackadder, Not the nine of clock news, Tall Guy etc.

Must admit, I’m starting to lose interest a bit.Every week seems to bring a totally new story line, the parents behaviour is beyond unbelievable (one bad parent could be accepted but the fact they all have essentially evil parents is just plain annoying at this point). The main character no longer seem to interact.

Nah, not Crank. They’d actually just shoot the Stath into space and have him hit the moon out of orbit.

Crank in space? Would love that. Or go the Crank versus route. Crank vs Godzilla (kind of already done in Crank 2). Crank vs Bond? (BTW know he’s not called Crank).

The Grammy’s are weird. Why are their so many odd categories, why are the people nominated seemingly chosen at random (Portugal. The Man - pop, War on Drugs - Rock, The National - alternative - are these all not just indie?). Do they just create a new category. What is Record of the Year?

As much as i enjoy these movies, can we move past the Tom Cruise holding on to something fast/big. Surely, with all that budget and freedom they an think of a more original action sequence.

Agree. Think it was the whole Chocolate / Lasse Hallstrom era that was the issue. Just to flag (as a Brit) but Three Billboards was officially a British movie (it was made by Film4) despite it’s (amazing) US acting talent.

There are those mid-budget serious Hollywood films - the ones everyone says they don’t make any more - that can be great. I think post-Weinstein, these might make a return as he started creating/buying films that were classic ‘Oscar bait’.

Also, question - is the ‘Oscar season’ becoming less important. Films like Get Out and Dunkirk, and to a lesser extent The Big Sick, The Florida Project and Logan got nods yet were released earlier in the year. I know there’s always a few but this year the balance seems to have shifted a bit.

Having just seen Lost City of Z I’d agree that it was snubbed. It’s an odd film in that while lots happens, it’s all very subdued. But it’s a film that’s stuck with me.
