Looks like a lock for most the big categories - Three billboards for film, Del Toro director, McDormard actress, Oldman actor. Suppose, as usual, the surprise will come in the smaller categories like supporting and screenplays.

If this was a mix of First Blood and Romancing the Stone, I’d be pretty happy. Though that slow-mo side on shot of lead jumping into/away from clouds/lightening/sea etc (clearly ripped from 300 and seen in Thor this year as well) is becoming a bit of a cliche - but still looks cool.

Assume this is a dig at season 2?

Something tells me the script for this movie sucks.

Indeed. But we called it the empire.

Erm, yeah, not the best language mate.

Are they filming in the UK? I’d assumed much of it would be on location but maybe not.

A lot of people do love each other. It’s just that a few very rich people and some not so rich don’t.

It reflects a lot of the Brexit votes in the UK. The people voting for Brexit weren’t the poor, hard working people (though many did), but those feared that immigration was being caused by open borders. And these people usually didn’t actually live in areas that were culturally diverse.

Seriously Disney, you couldn’t find any dark skinned camel handlers. Go to India - they have a huge camel fair their every year -just pick a few guys from that.

Exactly. Or given the platform over to a woman.

Agree with most comments here, that it’s tough for men to make comment about it as it’ll either come across as mansplianing, hogging the limelight or just ill informed. Though I also think there is an spot in there somewhere that men could have hit - recognition. Think that’s all it would take.

Agree. Take Eileen- the plot happens pretty much in the last 30 pages - the rest is just character work building up to it. It might not be her point to create a plot driven novel but I feel it’d have been more successful if that portion of the plot was brought forward - even as a framing device whereby we got a

And if anyone cares...My top 10 books I read this year:

I’m undecided about Eileen. Part of me agreed - it was so repetitive and little happen, the main character was prettyy unlikable and the setting was dull. But...it’s stuck with me. I wouldn’t read it again or recommend it, but I might be interested in her other books.

Does anyone who enjoys reading not have a huge list of books still to read. With films and music I’m always looking for new stuff, but with books I dread these lists as it’ll just mean more books on shelves.

It’s one of those annoying films where people get shocked by things like magic wands, when all around them is magic. Harry Potter is rife with this, with people always saying, no, that can#’t be true - you live in a world of magic, anything is possible.

always thought this law punishes artists that die young (or at least the owner of that artist’s works).

Only caught a few episodes of Black Mirror, and while I always enjoy them I do feel their scope is limited to ‘look how this piece of modern tech could become really bad if developed ad nauseam.’
