It’s not a priority as it doesn’t connect to the wider MCU. They’re working on getting the Avengers back on track not introducing a standalone film that struggles to fit in with the established rules

Again, people are focussing on the medium, not the message. The message is what’s important. Whether that’s wrapped in a 3-hr part black and white film or a short tik tok video, you need to speak to people not their screens.

No but it was the original posters point.

Yeah but the figures do back it up. Cinema ticket sales were slowly been trending down since 2001. But Covid finished them off. In 2019, 1.2bn tickets sold in US and Canada. In 2023, 850m. In 2001, it was 1.5bn.

I mean, they made the finale about how they are all arseholes with zero empathy.

I mean, you’re reading and commenting an article on it, so I guess it worked?

Agree. But he does need to realise that his passion project might not be some distributers passion project

I mean, it’s not going to make money is it. Let’s be honest. It’s probably not going to win awards either. But, it’s exactly what Coppolla wanted, which is not something many directors can say.

This looks a lot like most of it is going to be fantasy sequences. Which is fine but I always feel those types of movies remove the real world impact.

Think people would remember ghosts. Especially kids. I mean, the whole monster under the bed, ghosts in the closet thing would be a bit different to them

Quite enjoyed Afterlife, but yeah the fact that no one remembered the ghosts and proof of the afterlife was a bit annoying. Would have been so much more interesting to tackle a world in which ghosts were part of every day life. Have crazy cults, all religions claiming they were right, good and bad ghosts. Ghostbusters

Bond movies have always tended to embrace the current trends as opposed to defining them, so I expect the new Bond to be John Wick-esque.

US is a selling point. It’s a ‘this could happen to you’ scenario. US market is the biggest market.

Where’s Wonka? Had some great original songs, was a big hit? Was it too late or something?

Agree. It’s very enjoyable and would happily watch it again but it does feel almost like a movie from the peak Ferrell era. Think it lacked the focus of a main story, instead giving three different stories (Barbie, Ken and America Ferrera).

Having recently watch Prison of Azkaban and having a scene with Oldman, Thewlis and Timothy Spall in the finale, I was expecting so much more. Three of the great actors of our time and it just felt overacted and dull - if that’s possible.

Rye Lane is awesome. Short, sweet and just lots of fun. Visually, it seems to take some cues from 90s films - lots going on. Plot-wise it’s like a South London ‘Before...’ movie.

I mean, Marvel will have been planning this since the charges were drawn up. They acted pretty fast to fire him suggesting all the legal stuff had been done. They will let the dust settle before starting planting seeds of a new future.

Considering the way the potential Avenger replacements are performing, there’s no way Marvel let this Spidey go. Same with Sony, they need him to hang all the other Spidey films on.

I used to like him but he is so smug and self important. He’s made a handful of good films and now thinks he’s gods gift. He’s talked down the Thor stuff constantly, even if it is ‘tongue in cheek’.
