We’ve been predicting the death of the republican party since W. made official the marriage between the religious fundies and the corporate interests. They aren’t going anywhere. They are masters at messaging and re-branding. By and large, they haven’t paid any lasting prices for any of their malfeasance beginning…

THIS. I was a child during the Nixon era, and as I was reading the comparisons of Nixon/Watergate vs. Trump/Dumpster Fire I realized they are not similar because we no longer have men of conscience in positions where they can and will resign in protest and tell the truth about what is going on.

Was it a disaster, though? The GOP should’ve ended right then and there. It should’ve ended after Iran Contra, it should’ve ended after the Iraq War, and here we somehow fucking are.

And four whole Democratic Presidential administration years later the republicans and the Constitutional crisis inflicted by Nixon gave us proto-Trump. The republicans have never been adequately punished by the electorate for any of their bullshit starting with Nixon. They won’t be now. The only lesson they learned…
