I feel like even if you might have a blunt but refreshing perspective on racism, it kinda isn’t that valuable if you yourself have a long documented history of using ethnic or homophobic slurs.

She is such a terrible fucking person. Who gives a flying fuck if every so often she says something coherent? SHE IS AWFUL. Full stop.
I do sometimes agree with her blunt view on racism in America, but most of the time, I wish she would 100% stop talking
I remember Stewart had Louis CK on his show right after that Daniel Tosh Laugh Factory kerffufle, specifically to talk about the incident. They both agreed rape jokes directed at hecklers are a-ok and that the backlash was ruining comedians’ autonomy or freedom of expression or some such non-sense. It really changed…
So, when the proof was incontrovertible, you’re saying he could no longer feign incredulity?
I call it the Matt Damon Effect. It’s super easy to call out other people for not paying workers enough or not being diverse enough or not being an equal partner in the housework or corporations/1%ers not paying taxes or whatever the angst du jour is. BONUS: you get to look like a great wealthy savior coming to the…
In his act, he went on about what women should wear and how “fat” and “older” women are unattractive. This from a sweaty, overweight man, wearing ratty jeans and a giant, black t-shirt. He said to a female audience member who didn’t find his misogyny amusing, “Laugh, lady, laugh. You miserable fuck.”
Have you seen his act? He says terrible things about women, but mostly when in smaller venues in smaller towns.
And rife for furtherance of our national mass-conviction mass-incarceration mindset.
Stanhope clearly was taking the heat and wasn’t the object of the rumor (who would be afraid to call out Doug Stanhope for sexual harassment?), just like Stewart obviously knew about this or wouldn’t have tried to cut the question off.
I hate this response. Essentially, he’s saying that what happens on the internet isn’t real. But when Jen Kirkman comes out and on her verified twitter feed calls out Louis CK and the response is “I hope you get raped.” THAT IS HAPPENING IN HER REAL LIFE!
If the mystery perv in question was indeed Dough Stanhope I have a feeling it wouldn’t be a mystery seeing how he’d probably have incorporated these events in his act long ago.
Unfortunately Stewert (who I love) has a bit of a fragile ego and can be hard headed on some soical issues. I think he timed his retirement perfectly to avoid becoming an out of touch comic complaining about kids today. We’ll see what happens with the HBO thing.
Stewart also feigned incredulity when his ex-roomie Carlos Danger was accused of being (but not specifically proven to be) an Internet perv.
WAIT! I thought that rumor was eventually tied to Doug Stanhope? Anyway, it’s an awkward response from Stewart...but if he was truly caught off guard...I feel for him. I do hate the whole, “Do you know who I am?!” vibe of it. It could have been handled better than that.
I’m not that connected to that world
I loved The Daily Show when he was on it. I loved his humor and wit and biting commentary. I hated seeing basically only all white men behind him every time he accepted an Emmy. I hated how he just shrugged off the problem with his show’s lack of diversity. I’m not surprised this was his response.
This is a sentence I could very easily imagine Donald Trump saying completely seriously. Not great company to be in.
this is always an appropriate response to a question
Wow props to that kid from University of Chicago, that took balls.
