Prometheus and Convenant aren’t great, but I love the ambition, especially in Prometheus. It wouldn’t take much editing (or the insertion of a few transitional shots) to make Prometheus in particular a much better movie. (Show why no one ran perpendicular at the end, give the away team a better reason to behave the

The problem is that after Aliens, the studio and the producers lost all interest in the bigger universe. Alien was a haunted house movie, but Aliens was a war film and suggested lots of different places the franchise could go. Alien 3 and Resurrection were just more haunted houses.

I assume because so many loose ends expected to play a role in 9 have been seemingly tied up? To me that makes me more excited for 9. It’s almost carte blanche.

My only hope for 9 is that it starts out with Poe being tried and executed for a mutiny that caused the deaths of nearly all the remaining rebels. Man that would be funny.

I came here to say the same thing. The police and the caller are both criminally liable. If a man answers the door peacefully and is then exexuted, that is terrible police recruiting / training / practice. We now know from the Daniel Shaver case that police are eager to open fire, and treat civilian lives as

The SWAT officer who pulled the trigger is to blame. The person who called the fake incident into the police is to blame. The person who passed along the victim’s address is to blame.

She had no reason to tell Poe anything.

You’re telling me that I’m supposed to believe that Luke would contemplate killing his nephew because he saw the darkness inside him. Didn’t kill Vader, wouldn’t kill the Emperor. But this son of my sis and friend, he’s got to go. I mean, I understand that Kylo has to feel betrayed, and Luke has to feel like he’s

this whole film felt like Rian had a beef with Star Wars. From the weird animals that kept showing up, to the dog/goat/horse pod race, to the very manic behaviors of Luke. The whole central point of the plot, which could have been averted with ONE conversation, was ridiculous.

The whole movie was mildly disappointing. Snoke was wasted, Luke was wasted, Canto Bight was wasted, Benecio Del Toro was wasted... the whole thing came off in such a distractingly unfocused way. Not that it didn’t have quite a lot to like in it. It did. It just felt flat. Like Rian Johnson wanted to fuck around SO

I think this article touches on my biggest problem with the movie. The movie is a commentary on Star Wars movies and not a Star Wars movie.

Yep. They defaulted to white, without even checking. That’s exactly the problem with Hollywood casting.

It’s not about the integrity of the adaptation per se, nor is it about some conspiracy to hold back minorities. It’s simply pointing out that white people are overly represented in Hollywood. When you have a new original property, a lot of times the default is that the character is white. Or you’re adapting a property

Sure, but it’s a reminder that all of the symbols of rugged male authenticity in American conservative politics — see also “Sheriff” Clarke’s stupid fucking hat and flair, or grifter Zinke’s upside-down fly rig — are bullshit.

I’m getting the feeling there is a lot more than just asking some female staffers about surrogacy. I wouldn’t expect that to lead to resignation.

I think Tim has him beat, hands down.

no deli meat is ok to eat. seriously, it is horrible for you. linked to cancer in multiple studies.

This was amazingly informative. Thanks.

I don’t think that was the case with The Mummy though. That wasn’t being ironic, it was Universal’s transparently cynical cash-grab. That was the worst film I’ve seen in theaters this year because it’s so in-your-face about having nothing to say or bring to the genre. No artistic qualities because the whole thing felt

I hate this idea (though likely true), because that means three of the stones are on Earth. The whole point is to keep them apart, yet we just happen to have half of them? Because Earth is always special, I guess. Just ask Dr. Who.
