If Constantine came over from NBC, why not them too?

To be fair, in that same tweet he acknowledges that it’s “easier for some than others” and specifies that “many powerful people” can still do something.
Season 2 was probably my favorite (the premiere with the wedding is my favorite episode of the show, maybe, and the final two episodes are pretty great), but yeah, it’s been diminishing returns since then. Both S3 and S4 felt unfinished and kind of pointless in retrospect.
I was almost 100% sure that the Earth setting was a simulation, which seems to just make more sense to me - revealing that Michael/the Judge etc. can actually go back in time/change the timeline seems to open up a huge narrative can of worms (in a potentially unwieldy, confusing way). But I trust these writers, so I’m…
I haven’t read the book since I was in high school years ago, but it seems like the show is much more concerned with the present-day story: we follow all the characters from the tapes and see their reactions to it. We also see some of the ‘bad guys’ try to cover up their role in Hannah’s bullying, so there’s a…
Langford is quite good in Love, Simon, though she doesn’t get that much to do. Agreed on hoping she gets more work, and same goes for a lot of other talented young actors in the show (particularly Alisha Boe, Brandon Flynn, and Justin Prentice).
Yes! I did think people laughed a bit too much during parts of the garage scene, but partly it was out of sheer delirium - and it was really special hearing the collective gasp when we first heard Stan’s voice as he walks in.
I’ve had more issues with this final season than most - I do think there were some pacing issues and certain things were dragged out longer than they had to be.
Man, this was pretty much perfect (though I wish we got one more Coach appearance, especially when the wedding episode spent a little too much time on Russell). This whole last season has had such a joyful, happy-ending vibe - and seeing things like that flashforward to everyone and their kids playing True American…
When he was trying to convince Chris to stay quiet, didn’t he say that if he goes to the police, the gangs will kill both of their whole families and them? Something like that? To be clear I don’t actually think it’s justifiable at all and it’s for sure crossing the moral event horizon. I just didn’t quite find it to…
Nah, of course not. But I did find this first season so effective because Barry, while clearly doing the wrong thing, was at least somewhat sympathetic. You wanted to see him be happy, even if you knew he could never deserve a truly happy ending.
Oh yeah, I agree with you there - I just mean with regard to whether he really did kill her or not. My point is that he probably wouldn’t have said “starting now” if he hadn’t killed her.
Hmm. Well, I loved this, but if he really did kill Janice, that ending is so depressing that Barry is basically irredeemable to me now. Killing Chris definitely crossed a line, but in some twisted way you could justify it and say that Chris going to the police would get more people killed in the end. This, though, is…
The two moments that come to mind are:
Probably my least favorite two episodes of the season. In the first one, Nick and Cece seemed dumber than usual, and the Winston-wishing-he-knew-his-dad plot has always felt a bit redundant for me after we had a similar thing with Schmidt’s absent dad. I laughed a lot at Schmidt’s reaction to hearing a “white man…
That scene was legitimately devastating, especially because we linger in that moment for so long: hearing Chris ramble on and on, stalling until the inevitable happens. And the moment itself, when Barry kills Chris, is incredibly horrifying - I don’t know, something about the way he reaches over and grabs Chris’s arm…
Thought S1 was solid/funny, S2 was amazing, and S3 kinda sucked. This sounds like a good plan.
Aw I missed Coach! I know some people thought he didn’t fit in well in S4, but I totally thought he fit in well in the ensemble, even if it meant the cast was a little over-stuffed. Coach had many of my favorite lines this episode, including all the stuff with accidentally eating the cat teeth (and inexplicably…
I’m even more negative on this ending - it had basically no effect on me, for that very reason, that we know almost none of the deaths will stick. That said...if these sequels weren’t announced, so we thought these characters really were dead, it’d end up being even more disappointing that none of them were really…
Kind of annoyed these reviews are going up so late, but whatever. At least we still get coverage.
