That should really read “The GOP needs college football.” Without their circuses this fall, (who are we kidding, there ain’t no bread coming from these assholes) all people will have to focus on is the continuing pandemic, job losses, economic anxiety, and the current administration doing approximately jack and shit

Speaking of head trauma, I just had a conversation with one of my neighbors. We live in a red area of a blue state. She has just resumed going to church services three times a week, with no masks and no social distancing.

The hell we do.

Not sure what in 538's analysis you interpreted as them saying Tlaib was in trouble, looks like they were pretty straightforward that Tlaib was the clear favorite.

Yeah, I keep seeing national stories about how tight the race is, but locally everyone is just like "Who the fuck is this Melton-Meaux joker?"

I’ve definitely heard and FELT this stress around Omar but it’s usally because she’s said something true that conservatives don’t like and centrist establishment Dems have been told not to say. I’ve been offended by literally nothing in her political life. Hell - these folks tried to make her getting divorced and

My other favorite expression in difficult times is one I think I came up with myself.  “There will be a time when this isn’t happening.”

Now playing

In these difficult times I try to take solace in a different quote. From OK Go, “This Too Shall Pass”.

I had a beloved old friend who died too young at age 60 a couple of years ago. He was a gregarious Irish-American, quick to buy a drink and tell a story and joke with whomever was nearby. His giggle was infectious and could quickly spill over into a huge belly-laugh. At times, when we were just hanging out enjoying

I was amazed at all the vitriol for Rep. Tlaib on Twitter on the run up to the primary; most of it seemed to be people who said she was “so rude” for booing Hillary Clinton. I’m happy she won her primary as we need more people ready to do away with the status quo and let more sunlight and fresh air into Congress.

Yeah, let Mike Pence try and wag his finger at her during a debate for calling Trump a motherfucker.  I think I’d buy a ticket to watch her response.  He wouldn’t know what hit him.

Such an important reminder. I first started this practice after reading Rick Hanson’s “Just One Thing.” He calls it “take in the good,” and it means noticing a good thing that is happening, and sort of marinating in it for a bit. The practice has gotten me through some tough times. It works.

Jones’s statement just proves how far removed she is from Tlaib’s constituents. Detroiters have a special love of “motherfucker.” Longtime Detroit mayor Coleman Young once greeted reporters with “Aloha, motherfuckers!” back in the ‘70s.

Suck it, centrists

I’m pretty sure I’ve recently read something that said Rep. Tlaib was in more danger and that Omar was pretty handily ahead. And, “more danger” turned out to be insignificant.

You could tell that Clay knew he was in trouble, because he started running ads about two weeks before the election. This is a titanic result in staid St. Louis area politics.

Pleasantly surprised by Missouri this morning. Bush will go to congress and the state passed Medicaid expansion by a pretty significant margin (headlines are painting it as if it squeaked through, but, uh, these days 53-47 is a fucking landslide). This state is something else; when you propose progressive policy as

I don’t remember the last time I went to a store for anything but prescriptions and groceries. I’m on a first name basis and tip/give xmas & birthday bonuses to my delivery people. They’re my lifeline to the world outside my house.

I don’t particularly care about any of these stores closing. I can’t remember the last time I shopped in any of them.
