GENERAL STRIKE
GENERAL STRIKE
After this election, I pledged to find 2 other women who didn’t vote- or didn’t vote democrat- before midterms 2018, and coax them into the light. These guys are making it easier than I could have ever imagined.
Yes, exactly- so make him buy it and pay for it! That’s my point.
That’s why they’re worth pressuring. Not defending- pressuring. They’re not worried about reelection, but their legacies, and it’s a pressure point.
Oh I don’t think any reasonable progressive trusts him (or Graham) just recognizing them as free operators, who carry their own ballsacks. I’m not in any way suggesting that McCain works to any overriding principles that anyone could count on. However, their self-preservation is not tied to Trump- they hate him - and…
If you mean “zero impact” on the administration’s policies, sure. If you mean zero impact for American voters, not so much; women of color represent the largest block of fast-food workers, and as much as they’re taken for granted by democrats, they are starving for actual representation- hell yes, this counts.
To be fair, McCain openly criticized Trump’s reckless call with Australia, as he should. I think that a key strategy is to force more moderate republicans to either defend Trump’s hair-brained stances or step up and put daylight between themselves and the administration.
It feels great to try different variations as you get stronger- arms wide vs. hands together, or with one leg sticking out 90 degrees, parallel to the floor. You can pretty much work any muscle group with different push-up variations.
I think conservative republicans (McCain, for example) are on the same page, even if they wouldn’t publicly support it.
I really don’t understand this need to seek secondary rationales and strategies to justify his pretty simple and obvious motivations; this guy is a whore for cameras, with limited intelligence, and an endless need to hear himself talk about himself. He ran that circus quite literally like an episode of his game show.…
Meaningless at this point, and no on-air retraction. They don’t care what damage they cause, the whole point is stirring up hatred.
Her nomination passed through committee approval, where most hope for resistance laid. Senate republicans have the numbers, so it seems like a foregone conclusion at this point.
Ms. Hachi I certainly do know that :)
Please do, really and truly.
Yes, I think you’re right; I took the OP’s statement about love to refer to this beautiful gesture, not as a stand-alone platitude, or as “loving the other side”.
As a Canadian, I can tell you this isn’t being asked as a rhetorical question this week. The greatest threat to our values and peace and security is the ideology of white nationalism, now endorsed and embodied by Trump.
I don’t see how these things (putting our lives and bodies on the line, and expressing love through rigorous, public, moral solidarity) are mutually exclusive in the least, no more than MLK’s and Malcolm X’s tactics were counter to each other; these ideas undergird each other even if they run up against each other in…
Loving the other side, IMO, will not get us anywhere.
We really believe this BS about love conquering all, and that is hilariously naive because it doesn’t, never has.
With respect, I’m not getting exactly what about this is deserving of mockery.
