it was obviously not just a play on them looking alike.

I’m familiar with the controversy, I was just rewatching the clip above. I find myself agreeing with some points that each of these men make to a degree, and it’s a very important conversation that isn’t addressed honestly very often. I do enjoy hearing people disagree in an intelligent way.
Ya I’m not getting the outrage here: the comparison was clearly about their appearances, which are quite similar, not their ideologies.
Thank you very much. I don’t know what the future holds but I see myself back in the city some day.
Booker seems a plausible candidate to me too; he’s certainly ambitious enough. But the issue isn’t so much a political one as an economic one; who is going to fund Booker against Hilary? The oligarchy and foreign powers buying this election are unlikely to do so until or unless Hilary loses major momentum. Perhaps…
I hope it’s just other candidates’ strategy to wait as long as possible so as not to be the only target for her. I’m sure that others will run, I’m just wondering who, with any name recognition, could put up a hard challenge for the nomination. I can’t think of anyone off the top of my head besides Warren, who has…
I haven’t heard any media buzz about other possible democratic candidates
Los Angeles is even close to perfect, but bare minimum, it’s the most diverse place I’ve ever lived, and it continues to upend all my notions of how humanity can manifest, in complex, unexpected ways that light my sheltered little brain up. That never happened where I’m from, because there were only a limited number…
But that’s the point; Obama had already launched his candidacy by then. It’s getting very late in the game to enter and attempt to raise the funds necessary to run. I’m with you insofar as I pray someone with real progressive credentials steps to the plate but it’s getting to the point of no return.
I don’t like it any more than you do, but unless someone throws their hat in the ring pretty fucking soon, we ARE going to be stuck with her. Who else has a chance for the nomination, who is even remotely capable of competing with the Clinton Machine? They have all the money, so they are going to win. That’s how this…
What? Do you think there’s a chance that the GOP are going to do a 180 between now and then?
Or, we’re cynics who know that the other side’s agenda is so dangerous it makes Hillary the lesser of two evils by default.
I hope you're not really an environmental policy analyst because you are intellectually dishonest and pouty. Grow the fuck up.
"The chairman of the board may sincerely believe that his every waking moment is dedicated to serving human needs. Were he to act on these delusions instead of pursuing profit and market share, he would no longer be chairman of the board."
these them
If you grow up believing an extremely narrow and literal interpretation of the bible, it must be really anxiety-provoking, even existentially threatening to learn history, philosophy or science. I can empathize with their freak-outs, because people have deliberately misinformed these them, and kept them from being…
What you see as moralizing, I see as stating facts. If you want to write a draft legislation outlawing plastic bottles I would be the first to lobby my political representative to sign it, but if we'd like to have an inkling of understanding as to the systemic forces which will be on the other side of that battle, we…
This is the absolute depths of pedantry. You win: corporations are textbook psychopaths, not textbook sociopaths. Their fiduciary obligations negate any possibility of "good corporate citizenship" which is an oxymoronic phrase.
I like your description much better!
