Book canon is irrelevant, because those books are not canon to the franchise itself. I’m talking about an actual TV episode of Voyager.

That was posited in a book from the early 90s but it is not considered book canon. The Borg’s origin in book canon is established as part of the Destiny trinity of crossover books from 2008. Basically, the NX-02 Columbia (from Star Trek: Enterprise) is thrown back in time and crash lands on an inhospitable planet.…
That’s new trek for you just change anything that doesn’t fit for current purposes.
Thats why time travel gave Janeway a headache.
Its only been one episode, but I really like Strange New Worlds so far, so Star Trek's death might be postponed. Plus there's always The Orville which is Star Trek in all but name.
I’ve just read through the comments and it has occurred to me that no one has brought up the issue of Q dying.
Is “Unhinged” a nice way of saying “the culmination of a poorly written season”?
Star Trek: Travelers: Watch as a new set of omnipotent beings fuck with the timeline.
THANK YOU!! I felt like yelling at the TV as I watched this- WW3 starts in-universe in 4 years, and Rios decides to stay to witness THAT, along with his new love interest and her kid?
It takes some true talent to write something so god damn stupid.
Well, it was better than Season 1 I’ll give it that. Unfortunately, the sum was less than its parts and I would have preferred some different story choices.
This show should be Old Yeller-ed.
Final episode scenes between Picard and Q were the payoff for this season. Full Stop.
I’ve enjoyed this season a whole lot more than last season. However, this and Discovery go at warp speed for half the season, then they pump the brakes and take a lazy ride down the river up until the penultimate episode, then it’s breakneck pace again.
TNG played around with arcs, but those were usually relegated to one or two episodes per character a season. In other instances they just abandoned things that seemed like they might become regular storylines, like the parasitic space bugs from S1 or Sela in S4-5. I think the writers and actors really wanted seriality…
“Wait... what?” is what I have been saying quite a bit this entire season.
While I think Star Trek works better as episodic television (reviews of Strange New Worlds tend to confirm it), it’s possible that someone could make a good serialized Star Trek story. This just wasn’t it.
I gave up half way through season 1, but would say it’s got nothing to do with the characters being unsuited to longer arcs, and everything to do with those longer arcs being trashfires of utter nonsense (with occasional blasts of nostalgia bait).
Q didn’t die, he respawned in an alternate dimension as a draconeqques where, after a few millennia spent in the proverbial wilderness, he settles down with a nice horse and her pet rabbit.
Nope. It’s just godawful writing.
