I love it when my sports idols act like mysoginistic shitheads. Thank you for noting my great love of being offended. You are an internet hero.

Or Manning’s

Syntactically it’s like “Jew”, which is also technically a noun. When used in certain (most) contexts by non-Jews, it has pejorative connotation because historically it’s been preceded by epithets (“dirty”, “conniving”) that it’s just become shorthand, so it’s more polite to say someone is Jewish.

Good point. I won’t use the term any more.

My Bleacher Report feed said that he insulted a reporter. Looks like he insulted all women.

Americans taking businesses off-shore is much more of an issue than renouncing citizenship for tax purposes. People do it, but it’s not really where we are in terms of tax rates.

Pretty amazing that Zimmerman’s been there all the way through. Other than him, it was pretty much Ian Desmond and Tyler Clippard, both gone now, and maybe Jayson Werth and Danny Espinosa as the only guys with decent tenure on the Nats.

My tax guy, who sees how much everyone gives to charity, said we were more generous than most of his clients. We donated less than 3% of our income and some of that was sort self-serving stuff like museum memberships. That is fucked up. I can’t believe we patted ourselves on the back for that.

Yes, 3.1% in 2017 Q1, but that was one of 2 quarters in the past 10. If we sustain >3% all the way into the heart of the baby boom retirements without substantial influxes in new workers, I will be very surprised.

We could get into a pretty big philosophical debate here about who “deserves” what they have and who should give up how much. Top 1%, 0.1%, 10% of income? Of wealth? Of consumption? There are no easy Robin Hood answers here.

Not to split hairs here, but trickle down means give MORE money to rich people under the assumption that they/we, the noble JOB CREATORS, will wind up helping the poors than if we were to give help to the masses directly.

Deferred? Why? Are they somehow too dumb and irresponsible?

As a non-poor, I can tell you that the system is rigged in our favor. When I first started accumulating money and got a financial planner and tax guy, I learned how fucking easy it is turn money into more money. The tax guy figured out ways to save us like 100x what we pay him. The planner guy
(“wealth management”)

Whoa there. Not every free market policy is supply side. Many mainstream economists have pointed out the benefits of growth-enhancing policies like *smart* deregulation and incentive-compatible taxation without embracing the ridiculous and empirically disproved idea that cutting taxes on income (personal or corporate)

Ha ha. You think the Sox can’t beat the Astros. David Price will pitch 3 shutdown innings in every game. Our outfield will score 20 runs. 2016 Porcello will show up. We will surge into an ALCS against the evil pinstripes because we have to knock them out 100 times to avenge 2013.

BoSox fans are hoping the Yankees have just one more series in their tank before they are completely exhausted.

Just for context, Ibero is a small private university in Mexico City. Would have been interesting to hear a speech given at the big public UNAM. I wonder if it would have been different.

One of those highlights is a bad snap, but yeah, it needs a yakety sax soundtrack.

I’ll just put this here.

Love the fans who go in for the high five and then retract it.
