I don’t know, I feel like the technology of what can be done has gone so far that we are losing perspective on what it’s like to just be who you are. If you’ve got the money, you can “fix” anything, and by fix, I mean move closer to a single (usually eurocentric) beauty standard. It both separates the haves from have

I agree - I was being sarcastic (hence the # on “authentic”)

This seems to be just one way in which the “influencer” lifestyle has hit its critical mass and is headed for big change. People loooove the freedom and big cash that’s available for just being themselves (or a very carefully produced and highly filtered version of themselves), but often don’t realize that accepting

I’m the chick in the back wearing pajama pants and whatever t-shirt was handy. Yoga couture is hilariously awful.

Seriously. Anyone who goes on these shows is participating equally in the emotional manipulation, whether they intended to at the start or not. It’s all schadenfreude as far as I’m concerned.

Joining the trashy sweats, t-shirt with holes, messy hair workout crowd. My gym is a block from my apartment, so I often don’t even wear my glasses. If anyone is giving me side-eye, I can’t even tell! Everyone wins.

Too many years of screechy Scott Hamilton being NBC’s main figure skating commentator - but Tanith (who really needs to do ALL their coverage) makes him better.

I got to see Hanyu perform this program live at the GPF in Dec 2015, and it was GLORIOUS. I’m glad he brought it back, as it’s a very Olympic program, but he already performed it extremely well several times that season, so it’s hard not to compare.

Hanyu was not perfect, either Fernandez or Uno could have beaten him today. Had Chen not biffed it royally yesterday, sure, he could have won - but if he’d been in the final group skating, who knows what would have happened today. Chen could have had a less stellar skate; Hanyu could have risen further to the occasion.

Every season there are adjustments in how points are awarded. The scoring system has not changed, however.

Nope. The “new” scoring system has been used in the Olympics since 2006.

You really do not know much about figure skating.

Untrue. Until this year it was a rarity for US Figure Skating to go with anyone other than the medallists UNLESS a favorite had been unable to compete at Nationals. For this year’s Olys, the selection criteria was completely revamped, and now no medalist is guaranteed a spot.

Let’s get real, the US had no hope of winning team gold anyway. Fortunately, our freakin pair team did awesome, which was even more unexpected than Chen botching the SP, so we’re still in contention for a medal at all.

The reality is that this chick is just BAD at being an “influencer”. She made major mistakes here and is showing that she’s terrible at her job. That’s ok - plenty of people in all different careers start businesses and suck at it. Some reach a certain level of success anyway, others give up and do something else.

Is it because people are more horrified by men on boy molestation? Is it because female victims are more disposable? Is it because football is so much bigger?

He reminds me of the “male allies” in college who interrupted their busy schedules of making inaccessible art/DJing/reading Howard Zinn in public/showing off their Obama posters to come to Take Back the Night - where they would inevitably strike up deep, emotional conversations with the newest, least

I had the opportunity to observe discussions about the Cheetoh on an evangelical friend’s FB page prior to the 2016 election, and the one person who was challenging the others on how they could possibly vote for someone so vocally against things that religious people say is critical, and it came down to this: only god

I will never watch GoT because all the rapey character growth.

God, I just want to sit here and like and unlike this post so I can like it all over again, all night long.
