@Alohamaid: I want to record the rest of the episodes, because I'm fascinated by it. I'm not surprised that they went for the processed food after being shown fresh food, because it's what they know and let's face it, it's what CPG companies will pay food scientists to make it taste really good.
@TimFritz: No. I'm so full, but can I still haz plz?
@roseylivesonaboat: Happy birthday!
First off, I must say—to sing "Spiderwebs" on Guitar Hero is HARD. It ends in this long, seemingly never-ending string of "I'm walking in a spiderweb" stuff, and it takes forever to get through!
@Birthday Girl: While it sucks that the couple in question weren't allowed to attend the prom, it seemed like it worked out well—I would have been among the first to sign up for the Second Prom!
@Vivi Johnson: It's also looking like a major rip-off of one of my favorite AbFab episodes.
We're watching Volver after a delightful dinner of tapas: goat cheese with mojo verde, wild mushrooms with a bit of herbed goat cheese, marinated manchego, chickpeas con chorizo and mussels a diablo. Way too much food for us (aside from the mussels), so it will likely turn into brunch tomorrow as well as dishes for…
@badluckgirl: Maybe do some exploring to museums or other places nearby that you might otherwise be unable to visit due to being in classes and/or visit someplace fun in your hometown? I never went away for spring break, so I'd just take it easy, do some work, and do some spring shopping. It's actually kind of nice…
@anneisanne: That's a serious drive! As someone who now gets panicky while driving because I don't drive more than a few miles a day, I salute your long-distance trek. Safe travels and have lots of fun!
So the food tonight was deceptively simple, and seriously awesome: two pizzas (made with homemade dough)—one with red sauce, garlic, basil and anchovy and the other with asiago, prosciutto di Parma, shallots and tarragon. They were so good that they sent the husband into a food coma. :-)
@RosePetalPlace: As a Saint Joseph's alumna, BEAT NOVA!!!
@#c19909949:I am so, so sorry. My parents' dog is also on a decline, and I freaked out a few months ago when I thought he'd have to be put down. He's fine for now, but I know it's just a matter of time (my mom said that as long as he's comfortable he'll be fine, but when it gets too difficult they will put him down)…
Heh—I caught Maid in Manhattan a few weeks ago on TV, and while it was cheesy as hell, I forgot that it had a pretty decent soundtrack. And On the 6 will always have a special place in my heart as a fun pop record as well as an opportunity to remind my husband that he didn't get that the album title was related to…
Latoya, I freaking love you for using that FACEPALM picture. Gold.
@picassobear: The food sounds awesome, but ugh. This is why I haven't lived with someone since junior year of college (keep in mind that I lived at home for 18 months following college). And this is a sign to spend more time at the BF's house if possible.
Today has been a pretty good day: I bought a tripod (hooray for taking better pictures), we traipsed around Central Park and the UES, and we made a great, simple dinner—this Venetian squid recipe from an Italian cookbook from 1980 that I got at Strand, and a variation on my favorite pasta: breadcrumbs, red onions,…
Congratulations!!!!!!
@penguins268: Henry Hill's cookbook is one of my favorites to read—it's a light memoir with recipes, and it's a really great read. As for the film—just stop after the bust at the end of the big dinner.
@Scout: They are likely from Watsonville, CA—aka the berry capital of the world. They aren't the best (I'm partial to local berries) but they are consistent.
