@Mafalda para Presidente: I wish that cooking shows would talk about what to keep in a well-stocked pantry, and I don't mean just dried or canned goods—great stuff to keep in your fridge from week to week that can save you in a moment when you need something in the lurch, yet versatile enough to have multiple

@morninggloria: And if that's too much of an investment, get a stick blender first.

I'll be honest—the husband does the bulk of our cooking during the week because he has an easy commute (walking 15 minutes) versus my hour-long commute each way. Weekends, though, are time for recreational cooking—we make cacio e pepe, moules frites, braised lamb shanks, various risottos and pizzas—all as a team.

Nothing to see here...

My husband still remembers the day he bought his cello, from a small, but awesome, local dealer. I don't know what it is about string instruments, but they feel like part of your family when you have one—his cello is not mine, but it makes me happy we have it. Frankly, it would make me happier if I had a piano to

Megan: you are a great writer and destined for many great things. You've always made me think here, and I will follow you Air America (something I'd never thought I would say, given my conservative background). Regardless, you've encouraged me to question so much and think critically, two virtues that I find pretty

@katie.scarlett.o'hara: I can understand that it's tough to make things from scratch as a college student, but I will say that some of the best memories I have from college are my friends and I all pooling cash together and cooking dinner together, and not only is it a lot of fun, but it's a great way to learn more

I've made my complaints about Sandra in the past, and I stand by them—I think she perpetuates a reliance on overly processed foods and frankly, I think it's bullshit that someone who hates cooking so much should have any shows on the Food Network. That's not to say that she doesn't have something to offer—if she was

Between this and the adorable puppy I saw yesterday I may actually die from cute overload.

@o-line: The issue was a line in the song Peter sings that goes "even if they killed my Lord" which was subsequently changed to "I don't think they killed my Lord."

@likepenguins: And really, Guy Fieri is guilty of looking like a massive tool with his backwards sunglasses. At least he knows a little about food.

I love watching Whatever, Martha! because I'm now convinced MS went through her archives and had many WTF moments with regards to the guests she would bring onto the show. To wit: on a recent episode they watch a segment with a guy who—no lie—collects twine. Another guest showed us all how to properly wash dishes,

@PreposterousHypothesis: My engagement ring and our wedding bands all came from an independent jeweler because I wanted a sapphire solitaire. I was really pleased with their service.

@willwriteforfood: "Now, I thought he put too many onions in the sauce, but still—it was a good sauce."

@SkipToMyLou: YES!!! I highly recommend Henry Hill's cookbook, because not only does it have lots of recipes, it's a delight to read. It's really Wiseguys-lite, but nevertheless is utterly fascinating.

@Penny: People are most certainly cooking more, but as for well, that's uncertain. Cookbook sales did go up 9% in 2008, and Saveur did gangbusters in building circ, which to me shows that there is a much higher interest in home-cooking now compared to before.

@classicfantastic: The easiest way to get people in a fun mood at a wedding (as the bride and groom) is come down that aisle smiling and even laughing. If you're relaxed, everyone else will be too. A choreographed dance is nice and certainly memorable, but it's really not necessary.
