I love it! But my vote still goes to this one

Honestly. I once got into an argument on Jez with someone who was like "it doesn't hurt anybody." Fuck off, dude. Even if someone isn't personally offended, I don't see how you could ever think it's more important for a sports team to be able to keep their racial slur of a name than to listen to the desires of the

Really? I've had it on my shelf for some time but haven't gotten around to reading it. Why didn't you like it?

Agreed. One of the blackest marks against the Academy is Crash winning over Brokeback. And of course at that time we all thought Heath Ledger had many years left. Ugh, this whole thing is now making me extra sad.

Sigh. I'll always remember and be grateful for having gotten the chance to see him on stage in Death of a Salesman. I'm so sad about his passing.

I don't hate Ginny the way so many people do (I think she's much better in the books and dull as dishwater in the movies) but how she could be someone's favorite is beyond my understanding.

Personally I can't watch the Puppy Bowl for more than 5 or so minutes, but that's more minutes I want to watch the Super Bowl for, and as far as I can tell it's completely harmless (and in fact raises money for animal welfare and puts the puppies up for adoption) so why is this a problem?

This is so sad. He was so talented and I heard very nice things about him as a person.

What the fuck IS that? Seriously just the photo is making me cower.

I just think people would have figured out that they're dicks before making up all the mythology that surrounds them.

Agreed. I don't like when crazy is thrown at specific people, because it's usually used as a way to dismiss them, but I have no problem with Miley using it in this context.

Never understood why swans are so romanticized. They are terrifying assholes, just like most birds.

Oh I didn't mean to imply you hadn't read the books, just to point out the parts of the book that I think contradict or build on what you said. My problem isn't people thinking they're too dissimilar, it's that the discussion is so focused on how Ron isn't good enough for Hermione.

Yeah, I think people tend to forget some of Hermione's lesser qualities because she's so smart. But also, they're teenagers. Of course they can be petty and mean. Whose character would stand up to judgement if you were looking at their worst qualities as a teenager?

Yeah, I'd have been perfectly happy for them not to get romantically entangled at all. Clearly though, the most important thing is love of Fred :-)

I think that ignores 1. the power that having a shared background can have 2. that so much of Ron's character growth happens in the last book, when he stops being so insecure and genuinely steps up 3. that their marriage depends on them as adults and who cares if Ron was aimless as a teenager when as an adult he

Ever since I turned 18 I've hated my birthday. My 18th birthday was spent meeting my boyfriend's parents for the first time. He left me alone with them for 1/2 an hour while he took a call from his ex. And they've been various levels of shitty since then. This year I turned 30 and I spent it in a place where I don't

I'd have loved Hermione and Fred, but I think Ron is awesome. He and Hermione balance each other out and I object to the many comments that Hermione is too good for Ron.

Exactly. They have all their formative experiences together and those experiences are insane and unlike anything experienced by the other people they know. Which is why I don't understand people saying that Ron and Hermione have nothing in common. There are more important things than a love of studying.

I read somewhere that she also considered Hermione ending up with Fred. Which breaks my heart into smithereens.
