I’m in a book slump. It’s almost the middle of July and I haven’t finished a single book this month. I’m about to finish The Talented Mr. Ripley, which I’m reading for work, and it’s been a slog. Nothing on my bookshelf is hitting the spot and I desperately need something that’ll get me over this hump.
I’m thinking best from last night, but any GOT tweets will do, really. Putting mine in the comments in case anybody who hasn’t watched the premiere yet doesn’t want to see.
I’m in an emotional slump and I need something to read that will be delightful, not depressing. But I am terrible at finding these kinds of books for myself and I’m hoping that you, internet friends, might have ideas.
Where should I go to get out of the heat in August?
So. I have to keep this massive list of all the movies we play each year and at the end of the year the list goes out looking all pretty to our members. And somehow, every fucking year, I get it wrong. And the annoying fucking thing is... it’s not my list. I keep a list and so does someone else in a different…
A goddamn delight
So, this is obnoxious because I’m on vacation, but...
Listen, I just can’t, and unfortunately, I don’t have enough work to do today to keep me busy. I literally went and saw a whole ass 2 hour movie this morning and I still don’t have enough to do to fill up the rest of my day. So let’s have a no news OT?
In a little less than a month I’m headed to Ireland and Scotland, a trip that will include lots of walking and about 4 days of outdoor walking in the highlands. I’m, as Jack Dawson famously put it:
That thing when something goes down the wrong pipe and you end up having a coughing fit? That just happened to me, except I wasn’t eating or drinking, I just breathed wrong. This is the second time this has happened to me this week.
Book Lovers Day should be a national day off holiday, but since it isn’t, let’s just chat. What’s your favorite book ever? What’s your favorite book you’ve read this year?
Inspired by this Book Riot article, I decided look at my Want To Read list on Goodreads, which was out of control at over 400 books. And now it’s down to 238! Which is still ridiculous and some of the books I took off the list are ones that I’ve bought but haven’t read yet... And some of them are books that are still …
The World Cup is almost over (anguished sobs), I’ve watched almost all of Queer Eye, I’ll soon be finished with the episodes of The Americans that are available on Amazon, and Halt and Catch Fire just isn’t going to get me through the summer on its own. (I shouldn’t have paused Hulu for the summer! I was only halfway…
Having asked, a goddamn week ago, to get something early because it needed to be done well in advance of the July 4th break and then not getting it when I asked for it and then coming in an hour early to take care of it and then an hour and a half after the work day is supposed to begin being told that the information…
*This is actually an everyday problem.
Department head: Did you read the press release yet?
It’s not even 10 am yet and here is how my day is going:
I need better ways to fill dead time at work than constantly refreshing Twitter and taking Buzzfeed quizzes.
Fans of The Office/Parks and Rec/Brooklyn Nine Nine/The Good Place, this is for you.
