In a little less than a month I’m headed to Ireland and Scotland, a trip that will include lots of walking and about 4 days of outdoor walking in the highlands. I’m, as Jack Dawson famously put it:
That thing when something goes down the wrong pipe and you end up having a coughing fit? That just happened to me, except I wasn’t eating or drinking, I just breathed wrong. This is the second time this has happened to me this week.
Book Lovers Day should be a national day off holiday, but since it isn’t, let’s just chat. What’s your favorite book ever? What’s your favorite book you’ve read this year?
Inspired by this Book Riot article, I decided look at my Want To Read list on Goodreads, which was out of control at over 400 books. And now it’s down to 238! Which is still ridiculous and some of the books I took off the list are ones that I’ve bought but haven’t read yet... And some of them are books that are still …
The World Cup is almost over (anguished sobs), I’ve watched almost all of Queer Eye, I’ll soon be finished with the episodes of The Americans that are available on Amazon, and Halt and Catch Fire just isn’t going to get me through the summer on its own. (I shouldn’t have paused Hulu for the summer! I was only halfway…
Having asked, a goddamn week ago, to get something early because it needed to be done well in advance of the July 4th break and then not getting it when I asked for it and then coming in an hour early to take care of it and then an hour and a half after the work day is supposed to begin being told that the information…

Department head: Did you read the press release yet?
It’s not even 10 am yet and here is how my day is going:

Fans of The Office/Parks and Rec/Brooklyn Nine Nine/The Good Place, this is for you.
There are two holiday giving pushes I’ve seen going around on Twitter, included below. I thought it might be nice to have a thread of charitable organizations or holiday drives we think are worthy of some attention.
This is another work rant, which I feel like is all I talk about these days, but ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
Our department has been down a person for almost 2 months now and the extra work has mostly gone to myself and my supervisor. The third person in our department is a lovely woman who started here as a volunteer, after retiring from her previous job, and is now a part-time employee. And I like her a lot as a person but…
I’ve been trying to think of ways to make my bedroom more homey and to my taste. It’s been challenging because money is very tight and-an even bigger obstacle-the room is furnished with the landlord’s stuff in it and most of it can’t be moved.
We’re having a big event tonight. I booked the photographer weeks ago. This morning my boss texts me asking if I told the photographer to arrive at 4:00, and I realize I didn’t, because the event begins at 5:00 and the only thing I was told at all was that the event speaker wants to be snuck in and out and does not…
I swear my boss takes days off just so she can sit at home obsessing about work, without the actual demands of being in the office distracting her.
First of all, I came in this morning and someone had left a pair of shoes on my desk. WTF?
