There is definitely a subset of well-intentioned young (?) people who do not realize that race relations as they play out in the United States is not necessarily how they play out in the rest of the world. I've spent some time on these message boards explaining to people that Asians living in Asia and Asian-Americans

While we're on this topic, here are some organizations dedicated to fighting voter suppression, and in general reforming elections.

"Nikki Haley, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, made it clear that the Trump administration’s patience with both North Korea and China was rapidly coming to an end."

It's kind of ridiculous that they weren't the leads to begin with. I would have probably watched more than one episode if that were the case.

Oh geez, somebody better hurry up and tell those Westboro Baptist people that they made a typo and it's really God hates *figs*. They're going to be so embarrassed.

Yeah, my suburban PA mom has been trying to figure out the couple of her friends who voted for Trump (most voted for Hillary) and the conclusion seems to be "they just don't pay attention." Like, if you're an upper middle class white person, you can afford not to pay that much attention to what's been going on with

:( <—new* system of responding with sad emoticon to designate "sad upvote" because such a system is necessary now

Heh. Well, I wouldn't mind a greater number of moderate Republicans, who'd be willing to show up to primaries to get rid of these Tea Party extremists. That would be a big help to everyone.

I agree 100%. This is the one thing that I think they can really do to change things, or at least to try better.

That's what gets me about all the "why can't Democrats win" thinkpieces. The simple answer is "because they are not cheating as well as the Republicans." It then becomes kind of a vicious circle. I, for one (and as a long-time independent), support the Democrats at this point *because* they don't cheat as much as the

"House Rep Pete Olson (R-TX 22) laughs about pre-natal care. “We have what’s called an X chromosome, which means we can’t have a baby**.”"

Totally agree about minimizing federal taxes. I'm not sure why blue states should have to subsize red states that use their disproportionate voting power to put an extremist minority party in charge of the presidency and the Senate. Especially since Mitch McConnell's "exploit every loophole possible to get stuff

Sadly, you should probably replace "be unaware" with "not care" for greater accuracy :(

Well, it looks there's a chance that it may not pass because the Kochs think it doesn't go far enough. And since they are our kings, we do what they say. That's how America works, right? Like, in the late 1700s we fought a war against England in order to get rid of King George III, so that 250 years later, these two

We have to flip that district!

I'm actually bringing it with me to my parents' beach condo this weekend, and I plan on leaving it in the book exchange shelf in the lobby, where it will almost certainly be accidentally picked up by a Republican.

If you're talking about the journalist(s) arrested during inauguration time in DC, it looks like they also got sexually assaulted by the police after the arrest. Just to make everyone even more depressed: https://thinkprogress.org/a…

Yep. As we speak, there are lie-in protestors in Mitch McConnell's office getting literally dragged back to their wheelchairs and loaded into police vans, but Mitch McConnell roams around free, stomping all over our democracy. What a world!

Thanks! I love being the mostest at things.
