Except that the Gospel according the Matthew was written primarily for a Jewish audience - presumably, one that would take particular umbrage at the idea of the New Testament completely replacing the Old.

Eeeeh, yes and no... I mean, there are moments in the in the New Testament that pretty much reaffirm that the dickish god in the Old Testament is who we’re still stuck with. Matthew 5:17-18, for example, where Jesus says flat-out that he’s not there to change one bit of Mosaic law.

What’s funny though is that these mega churches are the modern day versions of the temples that Jesus freaked out upon in the Bible.

The only time that Jesus got really pissed is when the money changers were in the temple. He chased them out with a whip and said they’d turned his church into a den of thieves. It’s pretty clear.
