As a white woman, it’s difficult to read your post - because I can’t deny anything you’ve said.

I’d like to say “my pleasure,” but its more of an embarrassment.

Perspective and real life experience (or in your case, lack thereof).

Oh, I know. Here’s another interesting article specifically about Vanport, and the racist repercussions that are still around today.

Yep. There are many things I love about it here, but racism is deeply entrenched in so many ways here, and people seem genuinely ignorant of how it plays out. It can be absolutely mind-boggling.

I was puzzled about the ignorance, and then I saw she was from Portland, and it all made sense. There are some genuinely ignorant white folks here.

Well, she is from Portland OR. (I can attest it is a very racist town despite it’s progressive label)

Oregon man can be just as witless and racist as their Florida cousins.

Let me guess, you’re a white man.

I don’t have much faith in our judicial system, but that would be the best thing to come of this.

This comment should be at the top of any k-klan post.

Thank you for these links. They make me think I need to keep talking. And I will.

I try to avoid that phrase, but this situation calls for it.

I try to explain it in a rational way, but if they refuse to get it, I’m just not going to be having discussions with them. At all.

As a pasty white lady, I am gonna use the hell out of “caucacity.”

There should be a warning with that photo - jeez!

Testing... Have I been banned?

Hey I had glasses like that in the 6th grade. c1975

You win.

Not fucked up. You can feel bad for him, and still appropriately distance yourself.
