On rare occasions, ectopic pregnancies have “heartbeats” (I use quotation marks because it’s not an actual heart beating at six weeks, it’s a few cells twitching that will later develop into a heart). Well, what they really say is that abortion laws would “simply be returned to state discretion”, which is not really their objective. What they really want is to outlaw it nationwide.

I got a similar feeling to the end of LOTR, where Tolkien brings the age of magic and wonder to an end. No more White Walkers. No more Children of the Forest. No more Giants. The last Dragon disappearing. All to be replaced by a more prosaic age of men.
