I saw this when it was first released as a kid and I cannot overstate how much impact it had. The combination of the astonishing special effects, the great photography in live shots, and the streamlined plot were astounding.

The idea of an extraglactic civilization of warriors who are disconnected from the Force yet exclusively use biotechnology is solid; the execution of making them the walking embodiment of early 2000's nu-metal (Greasy body mod addicts who WORSHIP PAIN,) less so.

Might I add that there’s a lot to like about the Clone Wars and Rebels series. The lightsaber fights between Sidious and Maul (and his brother), Vader and Ahsoka, and Obiwan and Maul are truly excellent. And Rebels has Tom frickin’ Baker!

I’m now a 100% OT Purist. I have no love for both Prequels and Sequels and I think that the true quality Star Wars trilogy will always be The Original Trilogy especially with TROS having completely screwed up the entire Sequel trilogy.
