That was not my interpretation of the card at all. It sounded more like a mad scientist trope. It seems like we’re just trying to find things to be mad about.

While I wouldn’t say I’m enjoying these games more than the depressing games (for instance I’m loving the sadness/gore-fest of TLOU2), I AM all the more happy to have these kinds of bright, pure-joy kinds of games. It makes me happy when developers are aware of the range of styles that can be engaging.

I almost never look at user scores when deciding to watch a movie, play a game, or read a book. Rotten Tomatoes is much more valuable for its critical score than its user score. People are too easily influenced and, unfortunately, usually a lot less thoughtful about things than paid professionals. I imagine Metacritic…
