Watch aficionados don’t buy luxury watches because they tell you the time. There’s a lot more to it than that.

Your JLC is a hell of a lot more luxury than bullshit like Hublot or RM.

Hublot is not ultra luxury. It’s ultra crap sold as luxury for suckers who don’t know any better.

Because Porsche Turbo.

I test drove a 2008 automatic 997 turbo coupe with 72k miles for $50k a couple of weeks ago. Prestige Imports in Lakewood, CO. They still haven’t sold it.

On what planet were they in the $30s?

And...he’s convicted in the court of Sanctimonious Deadspin Opinion.

I’ve rented V6 Mustang convertibles twice, and they’re...fine...I guess. But I can’t say I’ll miss them.

I disagree. I’m ok with any of my friends driving my car and they can drive it as fast as they like. What’s the point of having awesome things in life if you can’t share them with people? Insurance exists for a reason.

The rotor prices are ridiculous. The subframe prices are ridiculous. The headlight prices are ridiculous. Everything is priced ridiculously on this car because it’s a ridiculous car. It shouldn’t exist but-for the abject stupidity of people in buying it and other cars like it.

They’re paying that insurance one way or another. It’s not as though they’re calling their insurance company every time an expensive car comes in.

Why are you assuming the car is being kept in a bay instead of outside? It’s a wrecked car with a customer who doesn’t want to pick it up. Why would they do anything but leave it outside?

The Lexus dealership experience is second-to-none. It’s been a long time since I owned a Lexus, but if I were to every buy one, I’d just hang out at their awesome dealerships. They cater to older, more-sophisticated people who won’t put up with bullshit. That’s a good thing.

I don’t.

Unreliable crap, unreliable crap, unreliable crap, really unreliable crap and just crap.

A 911 is an entirely different type of cars. As great as 911s are, they’re expensive, and they would suck as everyday drivers because they’re relatively small. Lexus builds a much more comfortable car as an everyday driver.

I disagree. I think Lexus is building some good-looking cars these days, although their trucks are still ugly.

I think Lexus is playing a long game here. Right now, I think you’re right that people normally wouldn’t cross-shop this with one of the Germans, but Lexus is adding horsepower and performance dynamics to its vehicles gradually, and I believe that their expectation is that there will be more cross-shopping five or 10

Because I have two kids, I’ve never found a minivan to be necessary. Our Highlander is a great family hauler. Now, if I had three kids or more, then I’d definitely get a minivan.

The Explorer definitely feels like the more-comfortable vehicle with better interior. You also can get great deals on them used because they’re fleet vehicles. I test drove one once and liked it quite a bit. Very comfortable SUV.
