Ohhh okay, that makes sense. Its definitely not a good jumping off point. Universities ignoring rape survivors, for example, is probably much better. Thanks for explaining your point!

I agree that this was intentional and that they want it to be talked about. However, I think that we can take over the conversation and make it about how horrible it is. We can shame Kelly/Richardson/GaGa and shame the outlets that praise them. I don't believe that "all publicity is good publicity."

Its going to be all over gossip sites anyways. Its better that more feminist (and psuedo-feminist) sites talk about it as the rape-filled garbage that it is so that such criticism becomes part of the discussion. Ignoring rape culture doesn't make it go away.

You're totally right, that was an awful, awful scene on the wedding night. I didn't notice that about Craster's Keep and have no desire to re-watch those scenes, but I totally believe that happened. Terrible that the directors/producers/HBO allow/encourage that (along with the usual pervy nonsense) when they're

OMG you are so right! How could I forget, I actually stopped watching after that scene, then restarted after people told me how much better her story got.

I can't remember a scene where that happened (showing the breasts of the woman he rapes). To me, in the scene where Ros is killed, they're zooming in to make sure we see who she is. Can you think of any other scenes where this happens? I tend to cover my eyes a bit during rape scenes, so I could be missing out on the

The Jamie-Cersei rape scene was a horrible, rape-culture-drenched mistake. They should do more to correct that, including changing the scene for future replays/syndication.

Ni idea, pero se suena lógico :)

At least where I go in Mexico City: limón = lime; limón amarillo = lemon (not commonly used); and lima = a fruit that doesn't exist in the U.S. but tastes kind of like a sweeter grapefruit.

Thank you for writing this article, and providing more of a balanced opinion than I've seen elsewhere. However, I think dismissing hooks due to her age and framing her view as simply anti-sexuality and un-nuaced is missing her point. The fact that Beyoncé "is a business" is exactly the point. As hooks says, she

And this is *exactly* how activists like Jones feel when they have to explain this horrible, murderous shit called institutional racism for the 100th time.

No, a victory for freedom of speech. Sterling was free to speak his racism, the NBA was free to fine him and ban him, and now NBA owners will be free to refuse to associate with him. Freedom comes with consequences.

If you're not capable of talking with someone you're about to have sex with, don't have sex with them.

Also, I didn't start doing it to avoid being charged with rape. I started doing it for us both to feel totally comfortable starting our sexy time. Its disturbing to me that some people (mostly guys) seem so worried about not being charged with rape, when it isn't so hard to figure out if the other person wants to have

I don't know about "customs," but I just always ask, "So can we make out?" or the like before I kiss someone, because it makes it much easier for the other person to say, "No, lets be friends" or "Fuck yes!", which are pretty much the only two types of responses I've ever gotten.

I think this is more about doing what's right than covering your legal ass (metaphorically of course).

I've never even made out with anyone without explicitly asking first if its okay. I also keep asking if things are okay as we keep moving further. Its really pretty easy and makes it more comfortable for everyone, so we can make sure we both have a good time :)

The awards show can still be boring and elitist even if it managed to recognize the existence of people of color.

Neither have I, but I'd think that given the wide spectrum within asexuality, there's got to be someone who's figured out a romantic relationship with someone else who wants sex. Though I don't know, I could of course be wrong.

This article should be 8 words long: "However often both people want and agree to."
