I work in the Visual Department at Macy's and we had an emergency email this morning to remove all the Lochte branded Polo collateral for the Olympics capsule they did. He looks so smug in the photos it was kind of a relief.

How mentally tough are they if they can’t handle women in their unit?
Aren’t women generally MORE mentally tough than men?
That’s an ignorant response. Should be able to exists in imaginary world. 80% of the men polled are against it. Ten men were just implicated for photographing women naked on a submarine.
“If candidates meet time-tested and scientifically validated standards, and if they have proven that they have the physical, intellectual, professional, and character attributes that are so critical to special operations, they will be welcomed into the special operations forces ranks.”
I agree, and that’s awful. And obviously there is still plenty of sexual discrimination in the workplace today. If you add that stress of women having to deal with sexism to a job where people are killing other people, a lot of complications will probably arise.
It’s horrifying, but when regular jobs integrated there was probably about the same level of dissaproval. Our grandmothers had to deal with a lot for us to have even the low level passive sexism we deal with today.
As a former writer who covered MMA, I’ve seen many amazingly strong women. (Stronger than me and a lot of men.) These women training with 250lb. heavyweights, full on sparring. They can best them just like a man can. This explicitly illustrates women most certainly have what it takes for the most physical of jobs or…
“As for the concerns regarding mental toughness and possible romantic entanglements: fuck off, entitled gross dudes.”
As I was reading this article I turned to my coworker, exasperated, and ranted about the exact same thing. How about you guys just choose not to be assholes and cheat on your wives or sexually harass…
LOL. That is def the right takeaway from this story. I love you HamNo, but seriously, what the fuck?
“Why those boys? Why not me?”
He’s a man, and he’s a man tasked with illustrating male fantasies for men. Are you not surprised?
Of interest: The porn industry is quicker to drop someone over allegations of rape than the NFL or NCAA.
Remember how (practically) everyone took his side in the divorce and called her “crazy?”
Yeah. And now he is being made out to be a person worthy of not just our sympathy but our admiration. His father likened him to Robert Kennedy for his courage. Thats the kind of thing that creates the problem. Such a difficult story to navigate, personally.
Like with any other kind of perpetual man-child, to him, it’s always a woman’s fault. That’s just how these guys roll, never accepting personal responsibility for their own actions.
I’m so torn. On the one hand I completely understand that the risk of transmission exists on a spectrum and that those who are HIV+ are often stigmatized, even if it’s more subtle than it used to be. But, on the other hand, as a person who is very conscious of her sexual health because of other health issues I have, I…
Sheen, himself, stigmatized it by lying to several partners (by not telling them he was infected), and by paying millions of dollars to cover it up.
Charlie Sheen LIED to multiple women about his status, paid extra for prostitutes to let him not use condoms, LIED again about ‘always using protection’ when multiple exes claim they were never informed till well after the fact, gong so far as to tell his last ex ‘I’m clean,’ when he KNEW he was positive. Then he goes…
Great read and wonderful approach to this topic as it’s been on my mind in how I reacted to the news. Your article allows us to get back to what really matters and that is the treatment of people and the perception we have going forward.
