Typically I would think of “simultaneously worldwide” referring to the game being released in Japan, the US, Europe, and everywhere else on the same day. Surprised they lasted as long as they did, but after Jezebel got the axe and now The Root’s comment section is gone, this is basically a ghost town on the majority of articles that aren’t rage bait.

Another thing that makes the original better, I think, is contrast.

There is nothing ethically wrong with running a game you own on a different platform through emulation. You own a copy already. This is the very definition of the legal and ethical use for emulation.

I own three copies of FF6 (SNES, GBA, PSX). I’d much rather emulate the game than play this mess.

Or perhaps the other way around - emulating the shit out of it for years, and then buying it on PS1 when it was finally released in Europe for the first time.

Yeah from an ethical standpoint I see nothing wrong with buying the game on Steam or Wii U and then emulating the SNES version on your computer.

Everyone should buy at least one copy of any version of FFVI...

I think it’s a shame that they didn’t do a full 3d remake like they did with FF III and IV. FF VI definitely deserves it.
