Thirty years ago, maybe. Now there’s really no difference in quality between a $20 bottle and a $5,000 bottle.

I’m guessing they figured it was a “close enough” case in the back of the house (especially if they just asked for a certain type and ordered the sommelier rec) and didn’t know that particular wine was rare.

Thanks! I’m always reminded of this first season scene, which is one of my favorite scenes in any sitcom ever (and not just for the exceedingly random Hank Azaria cameo). I’m a lawyer nowadays, and I only wish I could be this good of one.
