I just watched all 5 episodes of this, and while there's some clunkiness, I like the characters and I think it's telling an interesting story. I hope Showtime gives it a season 2, if anything to let it grow. It's too good of a subject to just let flounder out into the ether.

so when Kevin and Patty launch the missiles in the land of the dead, what is that exactly doing? Eradicating Kevin from re-entering?

that goat was everything.

Perhaps, just wasn't the characterization I expected.

Yes, I got that. People change, especially in positions of power, but it just seemed like a big leap from the Tom we saw in season 2.

It's been awhile since I watched season 2, but I never remembered Tom as being petty, which is what he was in the finale. I always thought he provided Cam with a little bit of stability in an otherwise volatile environment.

I loved every season of Mad Men. I think that show is more meditative and nuanced than most others, and it's chief position was not to always drive the plot forward but focus more on character work.

Really? I thought the endings of season 1 and 2 in particular were very natural conclusions to the existing arcs they had, and whatever time jumps they did have, more or less kept the situations & conflicts in tact. I should re-iterate, I didn't mind the time jump and sharp narrative turn, but it definitely felt like

I'm still parsing through my feelings about these past 2 episodes, which to me actually felt more like a season premiere and less a season finale. I suppose i'm a little shellshocked at such a steep departure from the Mutiny & Ryan narratives. I also wasn't super wild about the writers painting Tom as a jealous

This is like, next level bad revisionism

Finally. They had the perfect setting but told the wrong story with the wrong characters.

No License To Drive or IT? For shame!

I think Mr. Robot's usage is even more damning, considering that songs first big mainstream appearance was in Fight Club. It was very hard for me to disassociate homage from lazy with that one, considering the story similarities.

Loved The Leftovers this season, but could have done without the constant reprises of Where Is My Mind (a choice that was a little on the nose to begin with)

I think Garden State's single triumph is Peter Sarsgaard.

This is basically a great argument for why Escape From L.A. just isn't very good.

it's so good.

From watching Ravenous I thought he'd do well physically, but he really sold me on it with his acting in Band of Brothers.

I always thought he would have made a great Captain America once upon a time.

Yes, my personal favorite scene might be the final shot of Boyd, with the banjo version of Boyd's Journey playing over.
